So, what is your favorite instrumental song? For those of you who don't know, and instrumental is a track without lyrics or vocal music.

My favorite has to be from a band I very recently discovered, called Shade Empire. Their track Ravine is one excellent instrumental. Cool piano intro especially.

Hi all,

as regards technique, try to find "For the love of God" by Steve Vai and I will like also point out a song from an old german speed metal band named Vendetta. The title is "love song" and it is in their 1998 album "Brain Damage". I have just noticed that the song is not totally instrumental -they sing 3 verses in one section of it- but the general feeling is the one of an instrumental song.

Ashes of the Wake by LoG off the same titled album.

Just an incredible thrash instrumental that loses no speed or intensity or groove compared to any other songs. Plus its like 6 mins long and honestly has some of the best riffs of the whole album. PLUS it protests the war in iraq!! a win-win-win song hahahah

I can't mention Agent Steel's "The Day At Guyana" enough. it's a perfect instrumental, with like 45 riffs in 7 minutes of nothing but pure 80s metal masturbation.

another one i discovered more recently is Mercyful Fate's 2 instrumentals "Room of Golden Air" and "To One Far Away", really atmospheric. oh and some instrumental intro's to albums are also really damn good epic sick wicked:
Judas Priest- Dawn of Creation, The Hellion
Iron Maiden- The Ides of March
