Their first and last records were pretty fucking impressive. Cant say the same thing for the second one. Hopefully this wont disappoint.

Nobody's heard this? I hardly see reviews anywhere...

pretty good, seems like a concept album overall of different sado-maso scenarios... "Sandman's Apocalypse", although the main riff has been done to death, is intense if you follow the lyrics and figure out what it's about.. "Inside the Head of God" repeats the refrain one too many times, but is something that could've been on the last album, the rest solidifies a different album identity... and the title track is not quite as epic as it tries to be, but is still very head-bangable and appropriately dark like its namesake.

Good lowbrow fun w/ the right bells n whistles. Not as good as "Grim Tales" though, that's a classic for what it is IMO. And I happen to think the 2nd's better than the 1st, Kincaid, though I didn't like either at first.

A shame more people don't know about this band, do the Crown fans shun this as crap I wonder...

(sorry if this sounded like a mini-review, it's my 1st post and I'm not up to doing a real review yet lol)

The band really isn't well-known. I didn't even know this album was out, although I can't be bothered to listen to it anyway. I've only heard Error in Evolution and that was awful.

This album is much better than Error in Evolution, and it'd be more likely to turn your opinion around of the band than any of them, even though I think the one before it is superior.

Your name from the Insomnium song?

I might check it, although it's not exactly high up on the priority list. I'll take your word for it though, so it better not suck.
It's kind of from the Ins. song, but also from people constantly referring to me as a killjoy. Figured it was fate since one of my favorite albums is AtWW (even though my favorite song on the album is Drawn to Black).

Ah, so you're a party pooper? A KB'er? lol. That's what I would infer from the word being interpreted literally, anyway. The only way I heard "killjoy" used before was in old, old comics, probably Spiderman. I haven't checked your profile, could be used more commonly where you live?

ah, my fav is StDIACD. But that's always shifting around w/ the 1st 3, the last 2 are overall lacking in subtlety and cerebral effect but still I think they have the "seal of quality" in the end, at least they can write a riff... then, OFS hasn't grown on me yet.

...and w/ the One Man Army album, Dark Epic, don't look for insane bells n whistles, it's just melodic death metal but it's done well, and more brutal than most melodeath. Every song on this album varies from the one before it in theme, structure and approach, while sticking to the concept and the music sticking to the genre's confines and the band's style. The lyrics are immature on all One Man Army albums, they're supposed to be; Johan is living vicariously through his songs in order to do dumb, fun shit, and I think it has an honest charm, and is not dumb on the level of Barnes' "Tomb of the Mutilated" (though maybe not as fun, either lol). So I hope you like it, and if you do, please give "Grim Tales" the album between Error in Evolution & Dark Epic, a listen, for I feel it is one of the best entries I have ever heard in this sub-genre. (Johan's former project, The Crown, blows this away, but it's not like it does everything that this does better... musicianship-wise it does, and w/ songwriting I'd probably give them the edge, but One Man Army covers some other grey areas that the Crown doesn't and does it well.. if we were comparing them)

I had a feeling it was heading that way... I will when I think I'm up to trying my hand at reviewing halfway-decently. I've never done it before.
