That Mayhem album is so morbid and original, I like it. Thinking of getting it, if so it'll will be my first Mayhem album.

Its fucking great, I didnt think it was real, because it looks to real to be true.

Very original kind of idea. Euronymous came up with some terrific ideas in his time.

@Warman, hope you enjoy it.. Its an album dedicated to Dead who is dead on the cover. His vocals in the album as well..

@ Hellraizer, yeah its really too real for its own good lol. All the dried bloody patches make it look amazingly sick, specially the bit near his head lol. Its all part of history now I guess and its definitely real lol..

^^^Yeah it is kinda fucking scary.I also really like Morbid Angel's "Blessed Are The Sick",it is mystery de satan,or something like that.Latley it has been my favorite MA album.I have owned it for quite sometime,just never fully appreciated it,used to only listen to "Day Of Suffering","Ancient Ones" and "Fall From Grace".Now I like all of the instrumental breaks,its just not as catchy as "Altars",but its more epic.One weird thin though,its seems it was pieced together,some of the songs sound as if they were recorded at differen't times.Dave's voice is very deep on some tracks,and others sound as like they could've been on "Altars",just an observation I made.

YEah, I never thought much about it, for instance, songs like thy kingdom come, the vocals sound differrent then on songs like fall from grace or day of sufferreing.

The Mayhem cover is so evil and ugh but very original idea. Cant look at it for too long though. I like all the Emperor covers. So artistic. Even Anthems is very nice.

United Abominations (the new megadeth due in may) looks really good, they used it as a backdrop for there concert I went to last night, probably my favorite megadeth album cover to date.

the best album cover for me is Edenbridge's Grand Design cover, it just bright and colourful and i just really like it. but there are a lot of great album covers

Temnozor - Folkstorm of the Azure Nights

Definitely one of the best album covers so far. It's like the cover itself is telling you a story and the music is just made to power it up.

Butterfly Temple - Dreams Of The Northern Sea

For some reason I consider it as a traditional Russian art - I still remember those old Russian cartoons with pretty similar style. An album cover (picture) that has totally hit the album title and idea.

In case you haven't listened to this album yet, this is a bootleg album and the sound quality is so bad that for a while I thought whoever recorded it did the recording with a walkman available for rupees 299 (dollars 4.5 approx) in the footpaths of this city, and I don't think this album will be enjoyed by many people, for it is not raw but totally unclear sounding...

If you look at it for long you can gain a lot of knowledge about the structure of human brain (it might help your studies, who knows ?) and thus can you save time turning books or going to university to study about brain + you can use this wonderful photo in wedding invitation cards and such 'pleasant' stuff+ you can use it to decorate a morgue if you ever open one+..
one of my best album covers of all time..

Oh yeh, sometimes you feel like buying an album just because you like the cover.

That Thor's Hammer cover is quite unique actually.. Is that how it really is? My first thought was photoshop of course..

@Paganblood, yeah there are much more gory ones definitely. That Sickest Album Cover thread had a few as well.. Yeah I agree that the quality sucks but hey what can u expect from a Mayhem live album in the late 80's lol.. Nah its Euronymous's idea. Mayhem themselves say so..

The Pleasure to Kill abum is certainly one of the best... Kreator, IMO have released quite a few excellant album covers. Although I like the works of Opth aswell. Blackwater Park has to be another of the brilliant album covers of metal.

But, to be honest, as a genre, power metal release the best covers, bands such as Blind Guardian, Hammerfall and Rhapsody (Of Fire) have released really eye-catching covers in the past.

Haha funny lol. Science classes are so boring anyway and this is much better. Yeah I'll take ur advice and add it to my wedding invitation card

My favorite album cover is definetly Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time.

I personally think some of Burzum's album covers are some of the best for they are very atmospheric (cant spell) and can creat some real feelings towards the music .. just by looking at the artwork ... (unless thats just me .. hehe )
but i love an album cover you can see effort been put into in by the artist
Im not too keen on the whole graphic aproach to album covers.. its better when its hand painted or drawn.

My favorite album cover is Mental Funeral by Autopsy. I love that drawing, I wish I could do stuff like that on paper! It's so disgusting, ugly, NASTY! It fits the music perfectly.

Maiden's Best of The Beast cover is one of my favourites, especially mummified-Eddie down there...

The colors and theme = fantastic.
