A brilliant thrash band, one of the many German thrash bands that have that lie among the best in the world... I love them, they have superb catchy in many of the songs..

The lyrics are arguable the best in the business.... Very in-depth and thought provoking...

Hordes of Chaos is such a bland album.. Just a pale memory of an once great band.

when saying "once great band" you mean violent revolution and enemy of god are not great???

I liked Violent Revolution, Enemy of God is actually my first thrash metal album I ever heard so it's very hard to judge it since I share a lot of nostalgic feelings for it, but overall I like it. Hordes of chaos just feels bland compared to them and there older works such as Pleasure to Kill.

The two classic albums, Extreme Agrressions and Coma Of Souls.
The thrash/death Pleasure To Kill and
The modern but perfect Violent Revolution and Enemy Of God...
Start with the first (Extr Aggr) and the last one I mentioned (EoG)...

Cool, thanks!

Hey, as a person new to Thrash in general... would you have any recommendations?

I wanted to start a new thread asking this, but I have to have 100 posts first.

The only "thrashy" bands I really listen to much are COB and Norther... but they aren't exactly thrash.

My only criteria would be:
- I do not like the whole "bay area" thrash scene at all (testament, exodus, etc.)
- I'm not really into the "great" bands of thrash... such as Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax (although I do enjoy some Megadeth)

But who knows, maybe with that kind of criteria... there won't be any other Thrash bands i would like:lol:

Reign in Blood from Slayer and their next two albums, Beneath the Remains and Arise from Sepultura. Great albums. You can also hear the last Nevermore album or the last two of Death (these 2 are also a bit prog)... If you like Hordes Of Chaos then surely some of the albums i mentioned will break your head!!!

Well they'd definetely start their set with songs off of the three recent albums and then delve into earlier work and then probably throw in some of their 90s shit in between right?

You really should hear it a lot of times it is not as easy as Enemy of god to "understand" it but it is also great. It's more complex so come on give it some more listenings...

Okay, so my first Kreator album was their newest, "Hordes of Chaos," and I absolutely love it... just downloaded and listened to "Coma of Souls" though, and it is pure s**t. How can people listen to this? It is 10 songs in a row of the exact same thing. And the vocals are pathetic. Their singer sounds better now than he did when he was 16 years younger!

Yuck... maybe I should only look into their newer stuff =P

Wow!!!! If you like only modern and melodic thrash don't listen their past albums. But don't blame them. They are great. You should hear them more times as they are not melodic. And listen better to the vocals because on CoS and extreme aggressions the vocals of Mille are the best ever. This is not my opinion. This is everybodys opinion... Mille now "shouts" but then he did a voice which no other singer did so well...

IMO many try to sing like him but no one can. You should know also that he inspired many singer such as Alexi Laiho and others. Enemy of God and Violent Revolution are very good and more in the style of Hordes of Chaos. they have a bit better production and are a bit more melodic, the vocals are the same and the lyrics also great!!!

They are against the religions and the priests cause they believe they tell many lies to the people to control them. This is how I see it from their lyrics. I don't know if they are atheists, maybe, but they rarely talk about "God". Usually when they talk about religion they speak about the fake stories that the priests tell to the people. In the enemy of god song they talk about the usa who hits the world with the wars which they make. Generaly they are anti-Nazi and also against the war but they are with the revolution against the system. I hope I helped you.
