!!! In The Absence Of Matter !!!
Seriously, all of these songs are catchy as hell, but track 4 was the first one to make me stop what I was doing and bang my head.

My main issue is with the drums, im too stupid for all the technical mumbo jumbo, but they just overpower the entire album, kinda ruining it for me.

Yeah the drums sound terrible. Poorly recorded + mixed for sure.

Interesting. Strong drums for me are so important, i have no issue with the recording.

This band is a hidden gem. I found their previous album on accident while browsing spotify and could not get over how good it was. This new album luckily does not disappoint, it's not quiiite as good as the previous but still very very good. The last song though might be my favorite song of the year. Very strong nightbringer vibes and the solo at the end seals the deal for being a masterpiece of a song.

edit: just read the comments, the drums sound completely normal to me or at least typical for this genre of music.

The drums are a touch too loud, everything except the kick could be quieter by 1 or 2dBs, but no more than that, as even 2dBs might end up being too much. Although I would have to get my hands on it, try it out and see the result, maybe there's more to it than just volume faders. But a gentle cut should do the trick.

And I'm not a huge fan of how that snare sounds, I think the snare is the biggest offender. I'd definitely spend more time on that because to my ears it's the most overpowering element. It sounds fine when it's not being hit at full force, but when it does ugh, it's jarring. I would at the very least change the way it's compressed, play with the EQ a little and potentially lower the volume of it more in comparison to the other parts of the kit. And the bass guitar could use a tiny boost to the low end imo. Now this is all post-recording, and I have no practical experience with recording drums so I'm not gonna bother with that.

It doesn't sound TOO wrong to me. I'm still able to enjoy the album's musicality. It's a few small corrections that I would try, but I'm on my good headphones, not sure what other listening environments would entail.

I was quite interested on the first few songs, it was almost as melodic as the 90s skate punk I used to listen to with black metal. Then l, like with all the uada albums I've listened to, I was bored by the end.

I found these guys from their last album and liked their sound very much. As someone commented earlier, I also felt something wrong with the recording but wasn't sure about the reason. But overall they have maintained their standards and originality compared to the last one.

I'm a sucker for this kind of super melodic metal. Some time ago I just stumbled upon one song from this album and it blew me away so completely I had to get the rest asap. And it's just what I tought it would be: a fantastic meloblack with lots and lots of catchy riffs. I even love the technical drumming, it gives the music lots of personality.

Probably their most melodic to date with some truly fantastic guitar work, and the vocals seem better on this record too, they sound a lot more menacing. The production still doesn't quite sit with me, and some of the longer tracks were bordering on slog territory, however it's still quite an enjoyable listen for most part, especially the first three tracks.

A great black metal album but I am also listening heavy metal, death doom and post metal influences. As Troy said, this is a great album for any starter to enter into extreme metal fora.
