When Chapel Of Disease released ...And As We Have Seen The Storm, We Have Embraced The Eye back in 2018, they caught everyone by surprise. But when a band comes up with one of the most inspired death metal albums of the decade, and, in my opinion, in the history of the genre, expectations are high. And Echoes Of Light had very, very big boots to fill.

This has some big shoes to fill... I only hope it's half as good as its predecessor

If this release is as good as their last it'll surly make my top ten releases for this year, if not the number one spot, so I'm definitely looking forward to hearing this.

The track was very Tribulation-esque... That's not necessarily a bad thing.

These guys know how to do cover art - this and the last one are phenomenal.

The 2nd single:

The vocals are pretty bad tbh.

I agree, the vocals aren't that good here, which is a damn shame because the instrumentation is fantastic. I'm hoping it's a case of allowing them time to sink in though, because this has been one of the most anticipated releases for me coming up. I've been continuously spinning the previous release leading up to this, which is still one of my favorite releases in recent years.

Otherworldly performance, every song is a journey. By far the best album of 2024 so far! The only thing that is a bit off are the clean vocals, otherwise the album is utterly amazing. They definately created their own Sound by mixing prog rock and prog death in the vein of Edge of Sanity, yet without sounding unoriginal.

Top tier music right here, andnumber 1 on my top albums list this year so far!

Fantastic album, but to my ears it has nothing to do with death metal, more like Extreme prog/blues metal

It's unsurprisingly a great release, but I don't find it as good as the previous one, it might be a case of growing over time though. As expected, the guitar work is absolutely phenomenal, and the solo's are just mind-blowing! but the vocals are a slight let-down unfortunately.

They used to be a death metal band with rock influences, and now they're a rock band with death metal influences... and I love it! Great melodic guitar work, and a nice balance between dreaminess and high energy.

The clean vocals are a little bit underwhelming, but far from bad. Overall, this is the first 2024 release that will definitely be on my year end list.

The track was very Tribulation-esque... That's not necessarily a bad thing.

I was listening to track 2 and trying to figure out who it reminded me of - thanks to this comment for putting me out of my misery, it's absolutely Formulas Of Death/Children Of The Night Tribulation vibes

The evolution they've undergone across the 3 albums of theirs I've heard (not heard the debut) is fairly remarkable - the Repetitive Art album was solid death metal, but they certainly stand out more for this oddball direction they've gone in, and probably for the better

I quite enjoy these death metal bands you’ve been seeing lately that either inject more of a hard rock / trad heavy metal sound into their songwriting or that eventually opt more for that sound entirely. Tribulation, Horrendous… nice to count Chapel Of Disease among the bunch. I think it’s a pretty big stretch to call any of this death metal but it is very enjoyable and well written!

The musicianship here is outstanding, no question.
Regarding the vocals, after a few listens I'm starting to think that the similarities to Tribulation in the death metal parts, mainly on the first two tracks, are more off putting for me than the underwhelming clean vocals.
That said, the cleans are already growing on me a bit (or are less distracting, I'm not sure), even though a more rich toned mid-range rock voice would fit best in my opinion, particularly when the lead guitar is still wailing away underneath.

It's the good kind of weird. Something quite different than most bands, well-written and executed, a great listen.

Only DM I find is his vocals (not the clean ones) in few tracks which reminds me of Tribulation. Otherwise it's pure prog rock and it's great. Loved the guitar portion of Gold/Dust. Great track.

I didn't think this was a successful follow up at first, but once you "get" where they went with this it's pure gold. Fantastic melodies and beautiful solos. Gold Dust and An Ode to the Conqueror are awesome tracks to end, huge replay value.
