Most of the gilrs here are thought to be pretty because of a combination of factors:
1. They're female in the metal world that's dominated by hairy males.
2. They have long hair.
3. They wear tattoos.
4. They wear makeup.

The above factors will make most of metal fans deem most of metal girls pretty. While this is not so often the case. Take the new vocalist of Arch Enemy. Watch an interview, take a close look at her. She is average, at best. But because of the 4 points I mentioned above, metal fans will think she's pretty. In the kingdom of the blind, a one-eyed man is king, or however that saying went.

What does she look like without photoshop or makeup?


I remember ol' Christina Scabbia being posted in some highly photoshopped photos in one of the mags. Everyone on the forum I saw the pics was wooing and ahhing over them until a guy who had met her posted real life pics of her with him - bad skin and far more plumper. Not ugly but certainly no raunchy stunner.

My wife does photography and has made some of her very average looking friends look stunning through clever use of lighting, make up and subtle photoshopping. In fact she has kind of made these women look like someone else.

Well, we only know artist by their professional photos that are available on the web, though. So we are kinda comparing which is the most beautiful woman in metal with photoshop and makeup in this thread here, so this is not really a point...

Firstly not all the photos of artists are photoshopped - especially the ones from 1980s, 90s etc when there was no photoshop.

There was no photoshop at the time, indeed, but photos were retouched reworked but by airbrush painting them. Penthouse, Playboy, etc. reworked all the photos of their models.

I love how it seems that some of you seem to think that their is such a thing as universal beauty when it comes to women/men.

What is considered a beautiful woman/man varies immensely from culture to culture and even within cultures it varies a lot. Within the Caucasian world it varies immensely from one country to another. In some countries Tarja is considered a stunner and in others she is considered extremely ugly.

So, to say that someone is wrong when he says the AE vocalist is a beauty is as ridiculous as saying Tarja is ugyly. Beauty still lies in the eye of the beholder.

I for one find almost all (former) Eastern European women unattractive like hell, whilst others deem them gorgeous.

I totally agree with this. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

My main point was we don't really know what these women look like due to editing and makeup.

Myrkur chick don't use much make up and her FB poics are some whit out

For me it's Simone or Tarja during the End of an Era concert (yes that's right for some reason in that particular concert she looks stunning to me dunno why). Simone looks just as beautiful if not more in real life.
