Following a debut of questionable quality, The Haunted is back with a new line-up and album. And a fine return this is. This reminded me of whom the Björler brothers are, which the self-titled somehow made me forget. "The Haunted Made Me Do It" sounds like they went back to analyse what they had done in At The Gates' last album and added a more Thrash edge to it, but played the way the previous release proved it should be done - with actual Metal riffs (that are really powerful here), proper songwritting, and a good harsh growler, being that newcomer Marco Aro serves this band's purposes much better than Peter Dolving.

Well, this is a total bore, just like the rest of their albums.

Mildly better than its wholly lackluster predecessor, but that's not saying much at all. There are some great songs here ("Hollow Ground", "Human Debris", "Under the Surface") which utilize clean vocal styles at a proficient level, but elsewhere it's pretty much the same so-so formula which ultimately proves uninspired. The versatility and slightly more confident performance, however, makes it stand out in the band's discography.

Underrated Melodeath classic IMO.

9.3/10 for me - 'Bury Your Dead' and 'Hollow Ground' are the standout songs. 'Trespass', 'Leech', and 'The World Burns' and all also fantastic.

Check out my cover of 'Leech' from 2013
