Band was added here in 2011,long long ago, so. Pm to SSUS about it.

Even band full lenght from short look from mobile whit out reading lyrics are ok, that demo is enough reason to nuke that band and black list.
If it's be nuked suggest it again and say should be blacklist for future reasons

The same problem with the genre under Weakling's Dead As Dreams album. Probably because they disbanded in 1999, before the release of that album.

Fixed. Thank you!

Just noticed: Megadeth - Unplugged In Boston [Live] is only one album but on the Megadeth profile it has two entries - one with the original 2006 date ( https://metalstorm.net/bands/album.php?album_id=25537&band_id=163&bandname=Megadeth ) and one with the date of the recent 2021 reissue ( https://metalstorm.net/bands/album.php?album_id=133240&band_id=163&bandname=Megadeth )

Cattle Decapitation should have their style changed from "Deathgrind" to "Death Metal" and/or "Grindcore". Using Deathgrind prevents their albums from appearing on any album lists where Death Metal and Grindcore are selected as the style.

Makes sense to me. Still, I won't ditch deathgrind, because that's the most precise definition of their style you can have.

Virgin Black's last album is labeled with the genre "orchestral". However, that genre isn't featured on their band profile - just doom and gothic. Shouldn't there be "2018- orchestral"?

That's because that album has a custom style, and we do this when a specific album has a different style from the band's main style.
So as long as the band still plays Gothic/Doom there is no reason to change it.
You can notice some other custom styles as 'acoustic', 'instrumental' and even 'classical' on some specific albums.

It was created because Kreator 2 gothic metal albums, staff one or via pm explained. Like Kreator did not shown up as thrash or something.
If you click edit but you need plus bands, you can add style to album.
Same we do to all albums, comps what was out after band split up. Put band n genre to end, add album, genre won't show up in a album, so we do it manually

Death metal is a very little part of Soulfly's music.

Shouldn't the genre for Shores Of Null be changed ? I've only listened to the last album, but there isn't any doom at all, nor really death or black metal. Extreme gothic/prog maybe ?

Really? I think it has written "doom" all over it.
However, the "death doom" tag was a little misleading, I changed that to "gothic doom".

Hello,

I recently noticed there's an "Oriental Folk Metal" section here, and I think it can be better utilized to describe some bands that simply have "Folk Metal," or no label at all for this aspect of their sound. I'll list a few bands here that should have the "Oriental Folk Metal" tag that don't at the moment.

please add it to:
Ignea (and they should also be given melodic death metal)
https://youtube.com/watch?v=tzIOlS2jX1s
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6_n5y7j5JMg&list=PL27id3BZ8DaqKRvN6g5gmuV89-1XOk-wd&index=6&pp=iAQB8AUB
Al-Namrood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT1DMBHgsXo&list=OLAK5uy_kCaQzNXnMEh3oygMivLcz9zpHbKo7auTY
Narjahanam
https://youtube.com/watch?v=bekf4FcdNi0
Yossi Sassi (rock should be replaced with progressive rock, too )
https://youtube.com/watch?v=B_qRUALMyfI
Aeternam (they should also get symphonic death metal, imo)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO6M5cS9B3A
Akhenaten
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyrD02gUkPQ&list=OLAK5uy_mYF0a0D0ilqh_YoBPyw20sC5YMcGV8ri8&index=10
Sand Aura
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLqfnZXh4V4
Saratan (I'm not sure about the progressive folk metal, I'll leave it up to you to decide whether to keep or remove it)
https://youtube.com/watch?v=7txVoJrMc3Y

and replace folk metal with it on:
Nawather
https://youtube.com/watch?v=Z7nWXOQZ8ys
Melechesh
https://youtube.com/watch?v=fiNT_Ak30RE
Arallu
https://youtube.com/watch?v=PuQN2wjgnJs&list=OLAK5uy_n5UyAQC2NvhJpqvKAbzKztgLUi967z0SU&index=9

Hi! Just a quick note to avoid duplication of work...
Your suggestion sounds reasonable and I will look into this matter a little later.

Also, while we're updating the Oriental folk metal list, Odious should be tagged with Symphonic Death Metal, and possibly even Melodic Death Metal, from 2015 onwards, with Black Metal removed after 2014 (and it should be Melodic Black Metal, for further specification).

Odious:
1998-2014: Melodic Black Metal
1998-present: Oriental Folk Metal
2015-present: Symphonic Death Metal

https://youtube.com/watch?v=FIya8BURbJg

Speaking of which, Skin Age is a phenomenal symphodeath metal album - a solid recommendation for any Septicflesh fans. It may be the best engineered album in that style I've ever listened, too with great production value.

Largely done.

I've added "Oriental folk metal" in most cases, but I'm having a hard time labeling black/death bands like Narjahanam folk metal, regardless of the style's prefix.
Integrating Middle Eastern influences does not automatically turn each and every extreme metal band into a folk metal representative. "Folk black metal" is one thing, but "folk metal" + "black metal" is another thing. Unconventional scales and a few oriental melodies here or there is not enough to fundamentally change a band's genre. I've never seen anyone call Narjahanam a folk metal band, and I don't think they are either. "Oriental black/death Metal" is probably the best compromise in this case.

okay, the band does label themselves as oriental metal, which is not necessarily folk metal, indeed - frankly I wouldn't even call Orphaned Land "folk metal" for several reasons actually. I was just interpreting "oriental folk metal" as "oriental metal" in general, as "folk metal" is the layman's term for the bands with this style, such as Orphaned Land. I have always considered "oriental black metal" to be a thing for bands like Al-Namrood who don't cross into the "oriental" territory as far as Orphaned Land or Myrath, but who's "oriental" influences cannot be ignored, but I've never seen that term used outside of a few small niches.

In any case, Orphaned Land is described is "Middle Eastern Folk Folk Metal" on the Encyclopedia Metallum, while Narjahanam is labeled as "Black/Death Metal with Middle Eastern influences" which is basically in line of what you did here. So I guess it's fair to reserve oriental black/death metal for the more extreme acts, and oriental folk metal for the more "oriental" acts.

Of the bands I have listed here, I would recommend the same treatment for Akhenaten, such that Akhenaten has:
2012- oriental death metal
2012- oriental black metal

They're very similar to Narjahanam in this regard.

And I'm not 100% sure, but I would consider oriental death metal for Aeternam instead of oriental folk metal. This band is rather challenging. Edit: Their first two are undoubtably oriental folk metal, and their most recent is undoubtedly oriental death metal. The two in between are somewhere in between. I guess keep it as is for now and see what the do in the future before changing it.

I think the Avenged Sevenfold styles should be updated, largely due to the new album they released today.

1999-2004: Melodic Metalcore
2005-2022: Heavy Metal
2007-2012: Alternative Metal (although some people may consider City of Evil to be alternative metal [I personally don't] - maybe consider starting it in 2005, too as it is now)
2016-present: Progressive Metal
2023-present: Avant-garde Metal

The new album has nothing to do with heavy metal. Thrash Metal may appropriate though, but I think Avant-garde/Prog are good enough.

Also, is there a way to edit an artist's AKA? Ersedu changed their name from Xes Dreams in 2020. So Xes Dreams should be disbanded in 2020 and have "also known as Ersedu" and Ersedu should have "also known as Xes Dreams."

Are you very sure that these two bands have more in common than one or maybe two members?
I've skimmed through Ersedu's social media and they don't mention the name Xes Dreams even once. Their vocalist Valeria Finikopulo is Xes Dreams' former singer, sure, but that's the only obvious connection I could find.
