Agreed. Power Metal never appealed to me.

Judas Priest, Lamb of God, Nightwish, Kreator, Dimmu Borgir...

The biggest one that comes to mind right now is Peste Noire.

The first name that comes to mind is Nightwish but there are tons of popular bands I never cared much for.

Also glam and hard rock scene...

The Browning and others like them. To those bands I only have one thing to say : You give Metaal...A bad name, bad name.
Dillinger Escape Plan No reason really. I know they're talented, it just never clicked

Great, Thanks. My curiosity got the better of me an now I have another band to add to the things you cannot unsee/unhear. Youtube should really puts warnings when you click on something that's the oposite of what you normally watch.

Lots. But the biggest names include Opeth, Slayer, Dream Theater, Dark Tranquility, Pantera and Arch Enemy.

Lots of progressive metal bands

For me, it would have to be Alcest. People keep telling me how great they are, but they just bore the shit out of me.

I'll just name a few: Opeth, Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, Kamelot, Dimmu Borgir, Dream Teather. The only reason i've listened those bands was because of my friends.

Cannibal corpse, insert _______core band here, marilyn manson, Rob Zombie, White Lion, Korn, insert Christian metal band here, Anvil, Malmsteen, Dark Tranquillity, Gorgoroth, Emperor, Venom, Satyricon, Enslaved, Morbid angel, Fairyland, Rhapsody (of fire), Vader, Deicide, Marduk and so on.....

Iron Maiden and Metallica...meh

Soilwork, Dark Tranquility, Satyricon, Emperor, Summoning, Bal-Sagoth, Týr, Immolation, Suffocation, Origin, Entombed, Megadeth, Exodus, Sodom, Kreator, Faith No More, Mastodon, Dream Theater

Those just really bore the hell out of me. I remember staring blankly, voluntarily deaf to what was happening in front of me during a live CoB show, because I didn't wanna give up

That reminds me of the time when some (Canadian?) guy, I don't remember his nationality, responded to a PM of mine about his post in the metal topic. He said Children of Bodom and Sonata Arctica were pretty unknown.

Back on subject; I don't like those two either.
Opeth's probably lost a good deal of fans after Heritage, I reckon.

Pretty much the first 40 most popular bands on MS with exceptions like Agalloch, Katatonia, Rammstein, Immortal and slightly In Flames and Black Sabbath.

If you were really underground you wouldn't listen to anything on this site. You'd only listen to local underground bands who release tape copies of their demo recording limited to fewer than 50 copies.
