Woods Of Ypres is by far one of my favourite bands, regardless of their state, whether it be their black metal phase, or their melodic doom phase. I truly love all of their releases. This album is the first of the iconic (and my favourite) band; the EP itself clocks in at just over 30 minutes with five tracks, which is quite long for an EP. However, for an ADHD-riddled teen like myself, it is the perfect length to keep me interested. Now for those who are familiar with new Woods, such as The Green album or Woods IV, you may be disappointed with this release, as it is in the area of black metal, and not the melodic doom most of you are probably used to hearing from Woods Of Ypres. Yes, it's certainly not Tr00 or Kvlt Black Metal, but with tremolo guitar and raspy vocals, it gets the job done. Read more ›› |
