There is often an unfair stereotype regarding power metal that it all has to be either cheesy garbage or sugary, dainty hobbit music; and that is just not the case. There are no magic ponies or enchanted faeries here; just songs about Viking warriors on the conquest, killer mummies out for revenge, and beings born of fire hell-bent on annihilation. Often overlooked, Finnish power metal band Tarot shows us with their debut album Spell Of Iron that sometimes it's in your best interest to look past genres and give an album a chance.

Hard to say much about such music, mainstreem 80's sound but band survive, survive somehow, and are lil uper part of underground, maybe thank's to Nightwish ... but I like this i like this muisc when there was 2 guitars and no keys ... this is awesome
Midwiner night and love is not for my kind are my fav songs ... thos live songs in remastered version is awesome to , I realy like this album .... comparing whit one famose band what start in 80's this album is better how Fight Night from Strato

The first four songs are all great and it's overall a pleasant listen. Anyone else get Prowler vibes of the intro to Back In The Fire?

Good album, obvious Iron Maiden influences, but also German hard 'n' heavy (Accept, Sinner).

Spell of Iron is far from a perfect album, but it makes me feel sentimental and nostalgic. Tarot were highly respected band even back in the day, but in the 2000's their earlier albums were difficult to come by, so I had to get whatever crappy compilation just to be able to listen to their stuff. I had a VHS copy of their live show where they performed some of these songs and listened it until the tape wore out and broke. For a Finnish metal album released in the 1986 this is very mature and killer heavy metal, back then there weren't many local bands that sounded like this, there weren't that many local metal bands at all.

You've got a lot of guts. Let's see what they look like!
