English heathens Forefather are back with album number six and have never sounded better. Entitled "Steadfast", this is the band's highest achievement yet combining the spirit of the music they have always had with accessible songs and a whole heap of catchiness that has never been so present as it is here.

A lot of Amon Amarth's in there.
I didn't hear any Black, this is a typical Melodeth (without much keyboards) or Death Folk Metal album.
Good musicianship...but I didn't like it, it's just lacking of "kicks".

Found this comment. Pretty hilarious. Steadfast is better than Amon Amarth's entire discography, but AA are over wanked on here, so I guess dumb bias is to be expected

A B-Class album.
The direction is not that clear but I think they've a lot of potential.

In some way I think (don't get me wrong, still good album) they wanted to simply copy previously but forgot to write catchy and outstanding song like ''The Shield wall''

Terrific album, best they've ever done. Most of their efforts use a drum machine, but they hired a session drummer for this one and it seems to have made a big difference. It's been 5 years and I'm still not tired of this album. Has more teeth than their others, too.

Title track is the epitome of the genre. Every time I listen to it I just feel like battling. Battling all night. What a song.

Close call between an 8 or a 9 (I've just had coffee and I'm feeling generous so a 9 it is!)

Regarding the similarities with Amon Amarth: Amon Amarth use mostly tremolo-picked leads, downpicked pedal tone riffs and powerchords. Forefather use more arpeggio leads and barre chords. Really, the only similarity is in some lead voicing and the viking themes.
