Kinda pretty good, but at the same time kinda disappointing album. It's hard to pinpoint an one single thing why this album doesn't feel like a true Running Wild classic; maybe the biggest reason would be simply that this album doesn't have as much classic RW songs as their strongest albums have, but there is other reasons too. Musically the album is pretty good, Rolf's vocals sound decent though not his strongest performance and Jens is great on bass, as can be heard in "Over The Rainbow". One definitely positive thing here though are the guitars, especially the riffs by Rolf and Axel; IMO this is the best guitar duo ever in RW to produce such fast and memorable stuff. Now I'm not a professional drummer to make a qualified statement about someones playing, but I'm still gonna claim that this AC guy on drums wasn't a professional either, since his playing sounds very basic, safe and pretty boring (which is disappointing to listen to after Finlay's playing on "DoG").

There seems a change in songwriting, which is going more in to the direction of heavy and traditional metal and even hard rock. So the songs here are more repetitive and focused on a certain riff or a couple of strong riffs and giving lots of emphasis to choruses that in some songs works and in other songs it gets pretty annoying. Therefore it's easy to say that the songs here are generally less interesting, varying and epic than on "PR" and "DoG".

So it's not really a bad album. It's easy to return to listen to this even if it's only for the guitars of "White Masque" or "Straight to hell" and of course the album has such classic songs as "Blazon Stone" and "Little Big Horn", and some other solid tracks like "Bloody Red Rose" and "Heads or Tails". As a conclusions, after two amazing albums I can only say that the album is a bit of a disappointment.

reading this what is RW strongest? this is IMO best, of the best. whole peace are strong, riffs, vocals, lyrics, basically its all RW classic.

I used to think so too for some time, about UJR too, until after many more listens UJR and BS just fell off and PR, DoG and BHI stood out as favorites. First impressions can be deceiving.

Better than I remember. I had a memory of a quite filler filled record but that's not the case. Solid stuff all around with some excellent songs thrown in. The fast paced chorus of White Masque is lovely, Rolling Wheels is a heavy one with really cool verses. Both Slavery and Fire & Ice are strong songs which seems forgotten. Then of course there's the two obvious highlights in Little Big Horn and the title track. All in all very good record with a nice heavy production.
