Dazzling album but stays a bit too much on the safe side for my taste.

What BaN should do these days more or less.

Didn't really get this one completely. Not bad but feels a bit repetitive and lacking much depth. Sort of a one note thing. Too many bands these days think they can live on dissonance alone.

Exactly. I would add Terra Tenebrosa and Almyrkvi to that list. Not bad, but doesnt rock my boat. Then again I am a complete BAN noob so it could be I am missing the context here.

As odd as it might be I would probably agree with you on those two as well, at least with regard to the new Terra Tenebrosa. Their older stuff is rather good but something about the new one felt a bit off to me. Overly industrialised to the point where it sounded a little caricaturish at times. Almyrkvi, again, I thought was ok. A bit Darkspace-lite, with a dash of by-the-numbers Blut aus Nord aesthetics. Didn't light my fire all that much, but I don't begrudge those that enjoy it either.

That was kind of what I was thinking at first.... UNTIL I heard that Codex Obscura Nomina split with Aevangelist (which, let's be honest, is basically a BAN EP plus one substandard Aevangelist track). I'm really fine with BAN pursuing that type of sound that you see on that split, it's pretty weird and almost like a psychedelic version of Desanctification or something. I'm willing to just sit back and let whatever comes from BAN come with no expectations, because they really just seem to have an endless amount of tricks up their sleeves, as that split proves

(except for the boring meloblack Memoria Vetusta approach, that shit just needs to stop)

to me, this fits perfectly into the category of blackend slow metal, and tbh I treat it more like a drone metal record. I know that it is not actually a drone album, but the riffs are too formless to even be called dissonant. I'd use that term when the guitar parts have solid structure. This thing seems to be a bit too free-floating for that. Dissonance was not a standout characteristic of this record when I first heard it, and it is definitely not the most prominent feature of it for me.

And the best track on new TT was the last one, especially the first part of it, which ironically is the most melodic and catchy thing they have ever done.

well I do not disagree. I very much liked BaN's side, but then again, that is too short

So insanely great and sick... i could give it 10 easily, but time of album is so short.i mean in my opinion this kind of devastating music must be longer to destroy its listener in a perfect way.

Not bad at all, love the vocals, love the gut-wrenching vibes; it's a pity that songwriting-wise I found it a bit flat. 6,5
