This is far and away their best and most diverse offering yet.

Color me surprised.

I don't listen to this band since 2011, i came back to listen this album after the stage single... well this was too boring and slow for me, i found the album dragged.

Slow is a weird one, considering its the most energetic album they've put out since 2005.

Can understand why it could drag though.

This is hands down the best they've put out since City of Evil. Side note, loved the Neil DeGrasse Tyson cameo on "Exist"!

This is oddly diverse for the band. Pleasantly surprised. Not something I'd listen to many times, but props to the band for trying something different.

Actually not a bad album. Probably their best junk yet, and a decent surprise. I can dig this when I'm in the mood for it.

Its just a very average album.. Nothing to compare with their previous work for sure. If it wasnt for "The Stage", their first track, the whole album would be pretty much a boring shit.

I'm curious. What makes you feel it's worse than their previous work?

I didn't want to like this but this is by miles and miles the best A7X album i've heard. The last song.... holy shit!

Wtf, this is actually good

Just my luck, I've been making fun of everyone who liked this band and now they actually released something decent. It might even grow on me...

Thought this band was basically going to be through writing anything decent, but this album is surprisingly good. Still doesn't come close to Waking the Fallen or CoE in my books, but this is their strongest release since those 2 by a long-shot.

I've always struggled to get into Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil had some tasty riffs but godawful solos that sounded like a thousand kittens being castrated at the same time and some dull songwriting. Nightmare had a couple of good songs, but was mostly a snooze-fest, and I hadn't bothered with their other albums based on these experiences.

The Stage shows a dramatic maturing in songwriting as well as big improvements in the guitar solo department. Overall, I'm impressed! A band I never thought I would give higher than a 7/10 rating to has earned a solid 9/10 from me.

Edit: 2nd full listen I've decided to drop my rating down to an 8. Some great songs on this one but not quite enough for a 9 IMO.

I always forget this album is way better than it has any right to be. Hard to believe these are the same guys that churned out "A Little Piece of Heaven."

Really really good album, every song is very enjoyable. Title track is probably one of the best by this band.

Brilliant, unique style.

The deluxe version has a cover of Retrovertigo by Mr. Bungle. Not as good as the original, but it definitely was not as bad as I expected it to be. They also covered Halloween by Misfits acoustically and it was very good definitely worth checking out.
