Transcending Obscurity Records - 2020 Label Sampler Launched, All Digital Albums Available For Free During January

The 2020 sampler of Transcending Obscurity Records is now available for your listening pleasure below. It gives a pretty good idea of what's in store from the label in the foreseeable future, and features music from over 50 bands. The India-based music label has also announced an amazing January 2020 offer; you can pay what you want for all the digital albums on Bandcamp.

Statement from the label: "This is our most ambitious and diverse label sampler yet. The bands have been carefully handpicked to represent what we feel is the best expression for that particular genre and as such this sampler is segregated as per the different styles we're specializing in. There's death metal, grind/crust, technical death metal, black metal, sludge metal, doom metal and of course the avant-garde bands. It's us our sincere hope that you like some of the music we're working with and listen to them with an open-mind and see them for what they're doing within the confines of the specific styles. The artwork for this one, made by Turkka Rantanen, is once again a nod towards our country of origin and its culture albeit having a morbid twist to it, obviously. We can only thank you for your continued support over the years and any proceeds from this will go towards the making of merch, including long sleeves and zipped hoodies. It's always a challenge to work with lesser known bands but we're in this for the music and will do everything in our capacity to help them transcend obscurity some more. Here's a rough demarcation of the genres where possible -

Tracks 1-23 - death metal/grind/crust
Tracks 24-26 - technical death metal
Tracks 27-31 - sludge/doom metal
Tracks 32-41 - black metal
Tracks 42-48 - doom/death metal
Tracks 49-52 - avant-garde metal

"This of course isn't our complete roster and is more of a contemporary annual preview of the new music that we're working with and what you can expect in the times to come. Not all of it will be released in the year 2020, as some bands have yet to write new songs, but eventually it will happen and you can count on it to be epic. For more information on any of the bands featured on this label sampler, please click on the track to find out."

The fact that you can name your price for some of the best albums of 2019 (The Drowning, Temple Koludra, Officium Triste, Eremit, Oak, Rogga Johansson, Goregäng, Hex, Illimitable Dolor) is just rad. Let alone older masterpieces from Gaerea, Master, Paganizer, Dødsferd, Altar Of Betelgeuze, P.H.O.B.O.S., Deceased... Jesus, fuck.

Unless they personally ship me colored vinyl version with at least 5 different colors personally for free, I'm not interested.

This is a label I really like to support. Tons of great releases and are usually packaged in really nice, thick Digipaks at reasonable prices.

You are commenting on a news article about a label sampler that was posted on Metal Storm before any other metal website, minutes after it went online. I know because I published the news piece as soon as Transcending Obscurity posted it on Facebook. As a website we had reviews for the 2019 releases from Eremit, Goregäng, Hex, Illimitable Dolor, Temple Koludra, Chalice Of Suffering, Eternal Storm, and Officium Triste. Most of the label's bands are in our database. Finally, all the comments by users on this thread are positive and they all seem to be fairly familiar the label (and even if they weren't, it wouldn't be a reason to bash them).

If someone has really lost it, it's clearly not the website.

Ok. It's confirmed. Black Lion Records is having a January name your price deal also. I recommend that label for fans of more melodic stuff.

Yes, you are right. Every album (not the 2020 ones) is for free, Kull's latest included. I am surprised that the label hasn't mentioned anything on its social media or website. How did you find out about this?
