Tilen Šimon, the mastermind behind atmospheric black metal projects Veldes and Mossgiver has announced that he is ending Veldes and will continue as Ueldes instead. A full statement on the change can be read on his Facebook page.

The statement:

"!!!IMPORTANT NEWS!!!

"An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.

"I'm letting you know I'll be putting down to rest Veldes after 10 years and creating something new and better this time with the name Ueldes which I've been planning to use since the release of Flameless in 2019. The name Ueldes is actually the 1st mentioning in 1004 of the place and area where I come from (Bled, Slovenia) and then a few years later, in 1011, it was changed to Veldes.

"Anyway, through these years of Veldes, quite many negative emotions (especially sadness) were "put" into this project and I was caught in them and didn't even realize I was feeding the wrong wolf all this time. 3 years ago I experienced something that I "got" the enlightenment I need to change the view in my music too, especially in the lyrical themes. I'm not saying I stopped writing about these emotions and that I "turned them off" because you can't but at least I'm trying to do better, not to dwell on the sorrow and despair too long but to make something out of it, in an uplifting sense and never stop hoping and I want the same for YOU, so you may find some solace and a spark of light within my music even though there's sometimes a path of thorns ahead of us all!

"And because of that I must leave the past behind and plant a new tree, so I kindly ask of you to follow my journey also in the future under the name of Ueldes. The debut album Foreverer is coming out soon and it's a glorious musical continuation of Veldes! And thank you again so much for all the support you have showed in these 10 years!"
