Kypck - Announce Plans To Disband
Finnish doom metal band Kypck are set to release their fifth album, Преступления против человечества, on the 18th of August. However it seems like that will be the band's final album, as with the band being so culturally tied to Russia became incompatible since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. You can read the band's statement below.
The band posted the folllowing: "To confirm what’s going on and where we are going from here: Yes, our fifth album Преступления против человечества (Crimes Against Humanity), to be released on August 18th, will be our last one. After a series of concerts we will steer our vessel to the docks. We will play our last show at some point in 2024. After that we will continue with exactly the same line-up, but with a new name and new musical elements. The language of the band will be English.
"The legacy of Kypck will be the totality of these 5 albums, which we also hope to gather as a box-set or such at some point in the future. And we will be proud of what we have accomplished with Kypck as a cultural establishment, whatever the state of the world might be.
"The reason for all this is obvious: the Kremlin has isolated Russia from most of the world by starting a full-blown war, invading and terrorizing an independent country. This is a fucking red line. Cultural co-operation and tours, among many other things, have become impossible, and under the new laws we could for example be prosecuted when crossing the border only for speaking out loud about what we see is true, or having written for example this statement. Continuing this band and touring in Russia is simply impossible.
"We have a lot of friends in all countries involved in the war, and that will always remain so. These people have nothing to do with the current bullshit and we very profoundly acknowledge that. We will cherish all of our memories with you – of our years and tours covering for example St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kursk, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Kirov, Samara, Ryazan, Tula and Ulyanovsk, many of which several times. We also get a lot of messages from Russia privately, as voicing out opinions publicly has dire consequences. We thank you for every message. We have read them all.
What comes to the war itself, we stand with Ukraine until the end. They are the ones who were attacked, and are putting on one hell of a fight for what is and always will be rightfully theirs.
"As a band and a cultural outfit we have always steered away from current politics, but our lines were crossed on February 24th, 2022 – it's a fucking war. It's about life and death, truth and lies, right and wrong - the right to live as a sovereign nation.
"For those knuckleheads and trolls repeating the Russian state media propaganda on any of our platforms, ask yourselves a few questions: Which country invaded another independent country, started a war and is constantly carrying out missile strikes against Ukrainian cities, shelling residential buildings? Is the president of Ukraine with a partly Jewish background really a Nazi? Is Europe really ruled by satanists and junkies? Do you really swallow all this shit? How deluded are you? Why does Russia now stand with other authoritarian regimes? Why is the independent media silenced, and even single words are now illegal to use? Why are Russian athletes now blocked out of most world sports, for nothing? Why are your artists and individual citizens voicing out their opposition persecuted and jailed? And again: who attacked who? You know the fucking answer.
"For all others: We welcome you aboard on our remaining voyage with the new album. We promise it will be worth it."
