Nanowar Of Steel - Put Out New Music Video

Nanowar Of Steel are premiering the "Protocols Of Love" music video, which was directed by Valerio Fea. The song is part of their latest record Dislike To False Metal, released this past March.

Nanowar Of Steel on "Protocols Of Love": "To celebrate our firstest tour in the land of Alex Jones and HAARP, we conspired to write a song about conspiracy theories but it looks like someone conspired to a higher level to make it so that our new video gets released in an untimely moment. Is it just a coincidence? We think not!"

Nothing about this works. It is a really boring and lazy attempt at comedy, at least in my eyes. They're making references, adding nothing substantial to make them into actual jokes.

There are so many ways to be funny, if one only puts in effort. Comedy is created by contrasting ordinary things with extraordinary things or serious matters with silliness. It can come from double-meanings and from reframing things in a new light. None of that is present in this song and video.

Even the name of this band is garbage. Nanowar of Steel isn’t a funny name. It’s a silly-sounding name that is still barely any more silly than Manowar’s album titles. The parody element is thus minimal, nearly non-existent. It’s also a meaningless name, far as I can tell. Even a Wintersun parody band calling themselves Wintersauna would be funnier.

I suppose this may come across as a bit of a rant. But I am certainly not against comedy in metal; I am against amateurish attempts at comedy.
