Melt-Banana - Announce First New Album In 11 Years
Japanese experimental noise punk duo Melt-Banana have announced their first album in 11 years, entitled 3+5. Their eighth full-length release follows 2013's Fetch and is scheduled for release on the band's label, A-Zap, on August 23rd. It is available for pre-order on CD and vinyl and in digital formats.
In the years since Fetch, the band, consisting of vocalist Yasuko "Yako" Onuki and guitarist Ichiro Agata, have toured extensively and produced shorter-form releases through their Patreon. The gaps between releases have grown consistently longer for many years as Melt-Banana's music has grown more complex, and after over a decade without overtures toward a substantial return to the studio, the announcement of a new album comes as something of a surprise, though the band hinted at a new release during promotion of their current USA tour, which began on May 21st.
