Alkonost doesn't get much attention nor love on the internet, but they are definitely one of my favourite folk metal bands. They are on the lighter side of the genre, but still manage to create a rather captivating and beautiful atmosphere imho. I regret a little bit that the folk elements sound more articifial and less folk-y than before on this one. Kind of more symphonic metal than folk metal at times. But it still is a good new album to add to their big collection of good albums.

I do agree to the extent until "Mezhmirie" and "The Path We've Never Made" made some traction and started getting compared with Arkona, Skyforger, and maybe Finntroll. At least, what I enjoyed about Alkonost is a fusion of Slavic folk with atmospheric metal, having a unique blend of folk, black, and doom metal influences.
