Think I might actually buy that. I need to broaden my view abit, not just sticking to the thrash bands that you hear about every day. Death Angel might be a good start.

Is the title "legendary" being overused these days in the metal scene (maybe outside it too)? It seems as if half of metal bands became "legendary".
I haven't listened to any of Death Angel's stuff and it might be a very good band, but why would it be called "legendary"? When it comes to thrash metal, one might say that Metallica or Slayer is legendary (no more than two or three bands). There's a big difference between a good band and a legendary band. A legendary band changes the whole scene and influence many other bands, while a good band makes good stuff and has a limited impact and that's it. In the whole world of metal I don't think that there should be more than 10 or 15 bands at most that might be labeled 'legendary'. Otherwise the word 'legendary' would lose its meaning.

Do you even know the meaning of the word or preconditions for a legend? Firstly they have to be dead (or disbanded, in this case), so you're definitely wrong with Slayer or Metallica. Secondly, they must have acheived something that is great or respectable. Of course both examples you gave here fit that, although they're still invalid examples nonetheless.

Who said that a legend should be dead or disbanded? In what dictionary or resource you found that meaning of legend (I checked Longman and Encarta dictionaries and found nothing like that)? So, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Paradise Lost, etc are not called legendary? Who's then can be called legendary? Do we have to wait till they die or disband to give them credit for their achievements? Think of Pink Floyd for example. They're not legendary in the world of rock music? They're officially still alive and "banded". Even back in the nineties and perhaps the eighties they were called legends.
