E-an-na was a band that was all the rage five years ago when they released their debut EP, Jiana. For a country where half the bands are some sort of folk metal bands, their style was fairly unique, taking a more modern metal approach, even if that wasn't as obvious on that EP as on future releases. I knew Andrei and Ovidiu from their time in Prohod, and I rode their tour van once between shows. In the meantime they released an ambitious full length, and two EPs which are pretty big detours from their sound. A tango EP and an EP that brought them accusations of ruining the Romanian rock industry are not usual for a folk metal band. I managed to find a slot between Andrei's allocated time for his ten other music projects and I talked with him and Ovidiu about the band, their two recent EPs, what music implies, and how to get Lidl shoes.
