HammerFall is one of the most legendary and influential bands in power metal and, in particular, in the Swedish metal / rock universe. On this eleventh studio album, they make this clear when they create Dominion, which fits perfectly with what HammerFall are.
This album comes after two mixed feelings albums, Built To Last and (r)Evolution, and it was the hope to a return to a more solid and consistent album, but Dominion brought nothing different from these albums, except a very good production. After listening to the complete album, only one or two songs will stay in your head; the lyrics are generic and disconnected with random themes. You can confirm this on YouTube, where Joacim Cans explains the creation of the album track by track and you realize the songs are pulled from nothing, but on the other hand you can realize too that their focus was in the production of the sound.
In this 12-song album we have classic power metal, heavy metal and hard rock songs, a mix that reveals where the band goes to get their inspirations and where they are an inspiration. But the highlight goes "One Against The World", "Dominion" and "Bloodline", songs that sounds like classic HammerFall with a great production.
HammerFall are still fighting to become what they were in the past and create a new album like Glory To The Brave or Legacy Of Kings. To do that, they have to create something more dynamic and more solid, together with a good production to get the new milestone to their career that they seek so much.
