An all-female Black Metal band from Greece. Enough reason to give some attention to this band, we don's see enough all-female metal bands, and believe me, Astarte can rock just as good as the big guys!

Ok, some Bio, this is the third album of this band and it features different members than the actual line-up, back then was Tristessa in the bass, Kinthia in the Vocals and guitars and Nemesis in the guitars, now the line-up has recently changed, Tristessa still in the bass, and the newcomers Hybris and Katharsis, and a new album is on the making under Avantgarde records.

Enough Bio, let's head to the music department shall we? Astarte plays Melodic Black Metal with a lot of atmosphere, some synthesizers here and there, giving the experience a overall Dark Feel, if you want, call it Black Dark metal, is fine with me.
The music itself is not very brutal, is really epic and complex, the vocals are great, Kinthia doesn's overdo her shriek, and sometimes sings in clear voice, which is really nice. There are also guest vocals from Spyros of Septic Flesh.

I would be hard to pick my favorites tracks, because I really like the whole album, but i'm especially fond of ?Inflamed Paradox? ?Oblivious Darkness? and ?Astarte?, Astarte show us that they can play melodic stuff without loosing the Black Metal edge. If you like atmospheric melodic Black Metal completely done by girls, this one is for you, I only hope that many more women form metal bands like Astarte.
