One more Power Metal band!!! Yeah, yeah, Reviver is a new Power Metal combo, a new band in this category but however guys you'll have to know that the band doesn't follow the European trend, understand that we will maybe have the luck to avoid the numerous clichés of the genre. And yeah we're lucky actually, Reviver did the choice to play Power in the "US style", and believe me that it is good sometime?
This first album is really impressive, "Reviver" is really different of the majority of the European Power releases that we can listen to everyday. That's clearly in the US Metal spirit, like a Jag Panzer for example, that's powerful but technical and not so easy and yes damn without the poor "friendly" choruses. Actually this is not really far away of Thrash Metal, and for me that's excellent and that's different, it's good to have such music too.
As I said, the songs are powerful with some "thrashy" melodies you couldn't find these cheesy "friendly" choruses that you can find on the majority of the classics Europeans Power bands. That's a good thing because we're really near of the point of saturation actually and a band that tries to avoid this similarity must be congratulated. That's the case of Reviver that doesn't fall in this easy trap. When you're able to produce such album at the beginning of your career, believe me that the best will come for you, especially when you can produce an album with such perfect production (excepted for the really average and amatory cover).
Yes my friends, if you're bored by the "European Power" trend that we have these days, please have a look at this really promising album that will recall you the best release of the style that come from the United States. That's a great first album and I recommend it to all the ones who like me want a bit of variety in the Metal scene. A must if you want a true classic US Power Metal band (which come however from Europe and the Netherlands?).
