The Mexican death metal gods deliver one of their best performances with their fourth album.

In a period that closed the great era of "old school death metal", The Chasm already had 3 albums to their credit, and with each one the band continued to improve. It is therefore only natural that Procession To The Infraworld is a success.

From the start, the singer's bold vocals attack us, and they are of quality. With the apocalyptic guitar riffs, listeners are satisfied from the first track. The power deployed is abrupt, but that's what I signed for.

The drums are exceptional on this album; in the song "At The Edge Of The Nebula Mortis" among others, they give off the impression that the drummer wanted to get rid of all the anger in the world.

In certain tracks, like "Fading...", The Chasm manage to bring order to the chaotic, to give meaning to disorder, and this ability to organize themselves with what could sound messy to the uninitiated, this is probably the biggest strength of Procession To The Infraworld.

Towards the beginning of the second half, there is a slight loss of steam; at least personally, I was a little less into it at that moment, even if musically the band is at the top throughout the album. Fortunately this feeling goes away as quickly as it arrives. Was it a slight detachment on my part, or perhaps a shortness of breath? Not at the instrumental level, I repeat, but rather at the compositional level of the music? It's more up to you than me to judge on this one.

The conclusion of the album is probably my favorite part aside from the intro; the end of "Storm Of Revelations" is really great, and it ends the 40 minutes of the album perfectly.

Procession To The Infraworld is therefore a death metal album that detaches itself from the usual style of the time and proves that music changes, and that death metal can evolve. Listening to it is very satisfying, and The Chasm opened doors to new horizons for one of the best genres that metal has to offer.
