A lot of Power Metal falls into my hands lately, is a luck for all those bands that I'm in my "I hate Power Metal" phase, nevertheless I'm here to tell all of you if this is worth the listen or not, whether I like it or not.

Let's begin saying that the cover art is really good, the design is tasteful, and you can't guess is Power Metal like the 99% of the Power Metal covers, as a matter of fact it seems more like a cover art that a Gothic Metal band would use, anyway, good choice with the art.
The music? well, there is not much to say about Power Metal right? Either they're copying someone or doing something original, which is rare in this overcrowded genre.

The album starts with a short intro (how original), and then "Mother Earth" kicks in, the opener song is 9 minutes long, and is not your usually fast-paced-double-bass-warriors-screaming opener song, is rather slow to mid-paced, see, I'm up for some changes like slow openers, but this song is just plain boring, damn, watching grass grow is more fun.
Next is "Holy Land", now the band displays some real Power Metal, although a little bit chaotic in the choruses the song is quite pleasant, catchy, not memorable but catchy.
"Eye Of Fire" has some good keyboards while "Fight Fire With Fire" is really catchy.

Hmm, musicianship is average to good, vocalist has a good voice but when he tries to reach some high notes with the falsetto technique he just brings any song down, too bad, an aggressive voice like that could do wonders with the right music. Guitars and keyboards do they job well, but without any merit, as a matter of fact the band does their job without any honors of course.

So, summing up, another Power Metal release that will go unnoticed, as a matter of fact, this passed already unnoticed, it was released in 2003, and how many of you heard about it? I rest my case.
Better luck next time for Medusa's Child, they have the elements, they just need to learn how to use them better.
