If you're a nostalgic of all these US bands of the 90's which was the master of Thrash/Power metal like Pantera or Machine Head, maybe I found something for you folks, Big Iron. This band comes from Dallas, Texas and it speciality is this very offensive and powerful Thrash in the same spirit than a Pantera. Don't expect any similitude with the Bay Area and German Thrash movements; this is music from the South of the USA?
Big Iron, is a good band if you like this kind of Thrash Metal. Their compositions are some real heavy songs and all are really powerful and I can't say the opposite, these songs are catchy. The musical level is not bad at all, we can see it especially with the very good solos and really I like the voice of the singer. During all the listening of this album you could see that the effort of diversity is real, there is Heavy song, slow or speedy ones, but also ballads all that like on an album of Pantera?.
And that's maybe the problem of Big Iron on this "Falling Down" we know this music since the end of the 80's now, that's absolutely not new, we heard it all before. The album absolutely lacks of any originality. Yes that's well done, the song aren't bad at all, but where is the originality here? I don't know and maybe that the band could try to have a bit more of personality, they really need to show that they are able to play their own music. I don't doubt of it but I have the feeling that the band chose to do something that we already know?
Also this album suffers of a problem of production the sound is quite average and it's hard to listen to this album with a good conditions in reason of the bad recording. That's not awful, but even the production sounds like the ones of the 80's? And I'm serious when I say that?
Well this album is not a bad album, but that's not new really, and only the fans and the nostalgic of this music could like it. Big Iron chose the facility, they play a good music but without any originality and today, this is an important thing in my opinion. You can try this album, you'll see "Falling Down" is not bad but its two major problems put unfortunately the rating of the album to an average score?
