One more time I have to review a re-released version of an album which was released in 2004. "Desire For Torment" was the first album of the Polish Death/Grind band, Pyorrhoea. This is a solid but classic Grind/Death album; nothing is bad here really but nothing new too. Actually this kind of album is for fans of the genre only who would like to discover this Polish band but unfortunately there is nothing here which will stay in our memories too?

Pyorrhoea plays Brutal Death/Grindcore and you know what? They didn't avoid adding all the clichés of the genre in their first album? Fast rhythms, brutal riffs, Death vocals, all the classic ingredients of the genre are featured in the release but? that's all? I mean that ok it's not terrible Grindcore, the guys aren't so bad actually but I've heard the same music a thousand of times already. I think that the people who use to listen to Grind will never say that it's bad but it's so basic that it's boring in the end. I didn't find any real song which gave me shivers, it's classic and classic and classic?

Despite the really lack of originality of the release, "Desire For Torment" is not horrible. Its recording is more than ok and the songs are ok too, just totally unoriginal. I'm wondering however why Metal Mind chose to re-release this album, it's ok to do that of course but "Desire For Torment" is not a must and I don't think that this new version (without anything new on it) will find a lot of interest from the Grindcore fans all around the world. Ho well, at least now the fans of the band will be able to easily find the album?

Now Pyorrhoea has a total new line up. Their last album, "The Eleventh: Thou Shalt Be My Slave" was released in 2006 but didn't cross the frontiers of Poland unfortunately. That's the big problem of Grindcore combos, only some few ones are original and sadly Pyorrhoea is not one of them? If you're looking for basic Grind you can always try this release but if you want something fresh, "Desire For Torment" will not be for you?
