Argh where is Ningen Isu!

It really irritates me how much this great band is overlooked.

And of course Sabbat needs to be here

Everything before Thunder In The East by Loudness is superior to it. Their sell out album where they tried to conquer the US market by switching to singing in English and dumbing down their music.

Where is Coffins, Corrupted, Earthshaker, Anatomia, Bow Wow/Vow Wow?

Oh yeah and not Anthem's self-titled debut? WHich is superior to anything they released afterward.

I actually started out with those Loudness and Anthem album's first, I will look at both their earlier releases. I haven't heard of others you suggested, I look out for them.

For Loudness I would recommend Law Of Devil's Land and ESPECIALLY the Japanese sung version of Disillusion.

Btw Earthshaker's debut is in the vein of old Loudness and old Anthem

I think you need some Abigail. Active since '92 with over 50 releases they deserve a spot in this list.
Birth Ritual is a black/thrash combo from Sapporo but they don't have a full length yet.

Would you look at this list.
You have lots of my favorites here

How about Yousei Teikoku? Early YT was the tits.
And since I'm rec'ing my cents:
There's also some good touhou melodeath metal bands such as Undead Corporation, Thousand Leaves, Imperial Circus Dead Decadence, etc...

Also if you like that BloodStain Child album perhaps you may like Sophia's other projects Season Of Ghosts and Imaginary Flying Machines.

And black metal-wise, I recommend Al-Kamar and Manierisme. They are a bit hard on the first listens, but worth the effort, I guess

I did discover Yousei Teikoku before I uploaded the list, but I took them off as I didn't hear much metal in them. I have heard of Touhou metal and the band Thousand Leaves so I'll look into that. I am aware of Season of Ghosts and found some songs really catchy, though I think Sophia is from Greece not Japan. I have listened to both Imaginary Flying Machines, Princess Ghibli albums, their cover songs are really fun to listen to

Good to see Destrose up there. Don't know if you've seen the article I wrote about women guitarists in J-metal, but it might give you a few more names/bands to look into.

Also worth a look is ex-Galneryus singer Yama-B's band Gunbridge.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Though alot of Japanese bands are power metal, which puts me off as most sound all the same. Though I liked Galneryus' recent release.

Certainly true of Touhou metal circles.

Have some J-thrash.
