1997 was surprisingly a solid year for metal, a lot of great releases in black and power metal, and a very strong year for gothic metal this period was by far the golden age of gothic metal

A rather good year for metal I would say, not excellent though. Back at the time this year marked the start of my five-year pause with metal. Thus I found out about most of the albums I list only several years later. As to the initial list of this thread, big thumbs up for The Fat of the Land, such a banger.
