I'll take this over Wilderun.

Me too, somehow I found Wilderun boring as hell. This one is way more interesting.

Pretty good album, but some of the instrumental wankery definitely got on my nerves. Doesn't really even approach the greatness of the new Wilderun for me. Veil of Imagination is a far more compelling album.

For sure. I didn't post or rate VOI over there so not to piss people off, but...I listened to it 4-5 times. It has this really, really great beginning (20-30 seconds of total brilliance) but then flattens to a bunch of orchestral fluff. Wtf? It's not bad, but not even close to Opeth in their heyday.

That was exactly my thought after listening to it for the third time.
Prog-ly speaking, this year for me Soen and Obsidian Tide did the best work

What? Get amongst it! 4-5 listens is justification for any comment/rating

Nah, let them be. I only listened again cause i thought, "what, I musta missed something? Is there another 3:11 to 3:42 or was that just bait?" I'm still trying to understand the hype. Angry Metal Guy loves it too. Go figure. What genre is it really?

Yes! So glad for Martin Lopez to get his groove back post Opeth.

Indeed much better Wilderun - Wilderun is a meanderfest and are way overrated. The guys at Obsidian Tide actually go somewhere with the music and have much clearer direction. It's more enjoyable imo.
