Saturnus's debut is a strikingly gloomy and atmospheric piece of doom music.

The album beings with birds chirping and then music starts, it's giving you the creeps, until a melody kicks in and suddenly you are invested in this world that has opened before your ears. The chirping is a recurring theme in this album and adds so much to the already masterful gothic-like feel of the sound. The melodic guitar is brilliant, it delivers so much emotional depth and it sets the atmosphere for everything. The riffs are memorable and will haunt your dreams for a long time, especially great is the title song's riff, so look out for that. The drums are spot on in this album, they do what they have to do perfectly, with overall great production.

Those chirping birds, gosh, one the best doom/death i've listened to.
Those riffs in christ goodbye never got outta my head

Yep, this is probably the best (atmospheric) doom/death album I have ever heard. Can't ever get enough of it to be honest.

Amazing, you don't need play extreme death and growl all the time to be melancholic , emotional .. today we have death/doom acts, but non actually works as mid 90's , I dunno why, pure classic and brilliant band, reason why I like death/doom so much.

Amazing album, even more so for a debut. But the merit primarily goes to the first two thirds of the album imo. Find the last three songs a bit lame, and lengthly at times. There is still great atmospherical moments to find there, no doubt (particularly during The underworld). It just isnt as mind-blowing for me as e.g. the title track or Astral dawn or parts on Pilgrimage of sorrow are. Around 8.8 overall.
