Approximately three years after the release of the really good "Lionheart", Saxon, the masters (with Iron Maiden of course) of the NWOBHM scene are finally back with a new album, "The Inner Sanctum". "Lionheart" was really good and maybe that it was probably a bit hard for the band to release again something in the same vein because if "The Inner Sanctum" is a good and pleasant album, this is definitely not so exceptional too. This album is Sick! "Red Star Falling", "State of Grace" are both great ballads. "Need For Speed" and "Going Nowhere Fast" are both cool, they kinda remind me of "Wheels of Steel". "Attila The Hun" was just epic. Not only was it a great song, but I was always very interested in Attila throughout my life after reading about him in middle school, so that was just added to it.
---- The word gen means "illusion" or "apparition." In India, a man who uses conjury is called a genjutsushi ["a master of illusion technique"]. Everything in this world is but a marionette show. Thus we use the word gen.

Pretty solid heavy metal album. The highlights for me are the blasting heavy metal number "Let Me Feel Your Power", hard rocking "I've Got To Rock (To Stay Alive)" and epic "Atila The Hun" (even though they mistyped his name, which is Attila).

This is quite a gem, not bad. The opening track, while a good song, gives the wrong impression of how the album's going to be though.

Overall solid effort. State of Grace is a top-10 Saxon song (maybe even top-5) and Red Star Falling is another one of Saxon succesful mini-epics (think Crusader and The Eagle Has Landed). Attila The Hun is also a highlight, it's heavy and mean and feels fresh. This one is close to a 8 but I set for a 7 at the moment.

I discovered Saxon with this album when it's come out, still loving it! "State Of Grace" is one of my favorite songs from them. "Red Star Falling", "If I Was You" and "Need For Speed" are great too! 8.5/10
