Tribulation have been one the most exciting Swedish exports of the last twelve years. From their early deathly brutalities to their most recent gothic horrors, these guys have had a streak of sensational albums. Where The Gloom Becomes Sound is another sensational album, shrouded in thick fog and wearing black eyeliner, much like its predecessor.

I really dig Dirge Of A Dying Soul; I miss the Formulas Of Death sound, but I think this is probably more up my street (at least in parts) than the previous two

I'm liking this a lot. The last album was also good, but I think I'll be coming back to this one more. Only 2 spins so far, so time will tell if it's a keeper

Ok, I much prefer it to the last one. Still doesn't live up to what they did before turning goth rock though

Probably the most I've ever enjoyed Tribulation - at least as far as the fun aspect is concerned. So catchy. Isn't this "black n' roll"? That said there is some gothic for sure, but I'm not that great at identifying that genre.

Parts of this album take me back to my teenage emo goth years, when I was discovering and loving Sisters Of Mercy, London After Midnight, The Cure, Bauhaus etc. Other than that, it doesn't do much for me, though. It's clearly quality music, but not my thing these days it seems.

Maybe most listened album from this year. It has gothic, it has forvartd flowing melodies, GM, influences. Once there was way to describe music ''Dark metal' this can fits here, harsher vocaks, calmer vocals, good song writing, balance. '

Now Rod will write a reviev about his fav band

A bit less punchy and not as interesting as the last album, but still quite good, all the songs released as singles are fucking killer.

Some killer tracks (first 3), then I think it gets a bit... soulless and boring... problem with making up my mind what to call it... says goth metal. But I hear som Black Metal here as well, or am I wrong?

I've thought this with the overall Tribulation sound, can't quite place their genre other than it's a mix of Gothic/Death/Black Metal

The album flows really well. But none of the songs are that noticeable other than maybe leviathan. The album is titled perfectly. I think it is slightly lower in quality than their previous two albums.

I have only 3 keywords to put about this album: awesome, melodic, katatonia
Yes it reminds me the old Katatonia bits in many places of the album

Also, if you like this album, checkout that one if you haven't heard it yet http://www.metalstorm.net/bands/band.php?band_id=2296&bandname=I I fond there a few similarities too

Children of the Night and Down Below were excellent albums and this new album feels like a natural progression. Great riffs, and a nice assortment of different paced tracked. Maybe not as many instantly 'stand-out' tracks as on the previous two albums but still... Excellent stuff.

For sure one step below than 'Down Below', but still a very good album. Hope it doesn't get stale by next album bcos except a couple of tracks, most others were a continuation from the last album. As reviewer rightly noted, few songs have an inclination to Heavy Metal side especially 'Funeral Pyre'.

Every now and then I step outside my comfort zone and try listening to acclaimed albums from other genres. I did it back in 2018 with Down Below, which both served as a pleasant surprise as much as a disappointment... because it made me think my negative opinion of gothic metal had changed, but upon further investigation, I just realized Tribulation is a special band in a sea of waning creativity.

I'm not sure whether or not I prefer this album to its predecessor, or if I care to even have that debate with myself, but I know for sure as long as they're releasing these high quality albums that I'll continue to check them out.
