They say you should quit while you are still at the top. For instance, quitting your job for another is usually the best way to get a raised salary. Well, if this is How It Ends, then Primordial is clearly not following this advice.

The say on FB: It may be the note we go out on but it will be a note of resistance, in musical terms.
So yes, it could be the end.

Micheál O'Floinn seems left, might be like I said Alan Averill will go solo and live old songs

This seems to be the first time since the debut that they have more than 8 tracks on an album. I wonder if that means shorter songs or longer album. Or interludes.

Maybe on account of this being their final album they want to release as much music as possible. That Irish title looks suspiciously much like it could be an interlude though

Yeah that was also my main suspect, haha.

Is it just me or are the song titles a bit less... good than usual? Some of them just seem out of place on a Primordial album to me.

Spoiler alert: our suspicions were entirely correct.

That is some ugly cover art.

My copy already shipped. It should be here tomorrow. That's 5 days before the release date. I should be one of the first to hear it.

Fuck, I should've hurried more with my review. I've listened to it for about a week, trying to figure out what to make of it. I'll get my thumb out of my ass and post it tonight or tomorrow, and I expect disagreement to ensue

I don't know, the melodies and instrumentation are pretty bland, and the vocals are painful at times. Apart from the production and a few riffs, there isn't much I enjoy here.

I think objectively it is probably not super original for Primordial nor super exciting music, but for some reason the album works really well for me and I quite like it. Such is art! The songs made me feel something hardened, bitter, vigorous.

I am listening this, well it's lile journey through whole bands disco. Best song was opening, really it should be their last song on album if it's how all end. Sentenced did right on final album. Like I said maybe I need one month to figure this album out.

This album has it's moments, I've enjoyed it a lot and especially Alan's vocals. "Real" rating would be a 7.5.

It's Primordial, they have a unique and distinctive sound and it's still on the same direction. Can't go bad here, either you like it or you don't.

The track name "Nothing New Under The Sun" perfectly describes this album. Same old Primordial.
But very enjoyable. This one is much better than the previous record and could become one of my favourites.

Somehow I did not get the same effect of their last album. This seemed to be more mellowed and as they don't want their last one to be anything different from what they have given earlier. Seemed to be more safe and less energy.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

Still far below to "To The Nameless Dead" and "Exile", by far the best I've listened to in modern Primordial. It was filled with lot of thick-y and fuzzy soundscapes that have created more distortion in the sound than I hardly found in preceding albums which more inclined to fine-cutting edge of fusion of black metal and folk.

Well, that's my take.

How can it be both, far below their 2018 album and by far the best you have listened to in modern Primordial?

Edit: Oh, perhaps you mean Exile is the best in modern Primordial.

Yeah, I meant Exile to be the most appealing in the last decade.

Finally came to listen to the whole album. After all I have read here before there was no surprise in what I heard. It is a solid release. Someone put it aptly with "Primordial being Primordial", as it is their typical sound, song structures, atmosphere, and even some riffs sound familiar. Yet, it does not come close to the (high) standards they have set with all of their albums since The Gathering Wilderness, I would say. There is just too little that hooks, though several riffs are convincing, but also too much dragging over a (too) long album. I cant even name a clear highlight song, though All Against All somehow stands out as it is quite unusal for them.
Overall, the album might in fact be a rather favourable way of how it ends for them, fading out without attracting too much attention.
