Looking at the list of guest singers, this could possibly be the best album ever for a power/heavy/progressive metal fan. This is not the case, although the second part of this double album about the "Universal Migrator" is worth checking out. When composer Arjen did these twin albums, he decided to split his music in two parts - metal and not metal. This is the metalpart, and the only "pure" metal album Ayreon has ever released. Although there are a lot of influences from rock and progressive rock there's also some power metal in almost every track. The music reminds mostly of Star One (another project of Arjen), otherwise like nothing else.

I love this album. Had mostly listened to the first part of the Universal Migrator. Lately bought the album and listened to the second Part. It always blows my mind...

The lineup of singers here is excellent and features one of the few guest appearance by Bruce Dickinson himself. The vocalists do a wonderful job of bringing the songs alive. There's also some notable guest musicans, for example both Michael Romeo and Gary Wehrkamp provides some solos. The six first songs are all very strong and flies by quickly. The last three however doesn't hold the same memorability. It's hard to choose a favourite but for some reason Through the Wormhole has always stuck with me, it has a interesting drum pattern and attacks you with a striking chorus.

A Real Mönkey
Nah first one is better. Just because it’s heavier doesn’t mean it’s good.
