My Microsoft Word-log reveals that the start of this review was made on the 4th of September, 2009. This review is finally finished in Januari 2010, in what has probably been the longest period of time I've ever needed to be able to wrap up a review. Right off the bat I could hear this would be a 'grower', but unfortunately I could never find the time and patience to fully devote myself to this release. "Some other time", I constantly found myself thinking. Time's a bitch, anyway. I never seem to have enough of it. And Chaos Moon Languor Into Echoes, Beyond is not the kind of girl you can have for a quickie.

Chaos Moon perfectly merged ambient beauty with terrifying Black metal on their second full-length, the enigmatically titled Languor Into Echoes, Beyond. Depressive riffs couple with astral synths, voids of dissonance alternate with infinite vistas of beautifully coloured ambience. Languor Into Echoes, Beyond is inventive, enveloping and euphoric cosmic-themed Black metal. Come sail the endless seas of astral ecstasy.

I don't get the hype around this record. Preferring esoterica over this easily.

Fair enough
but then again the very positive review by Lucas who had a very vast knowledge of underground BM is not something ordinary. Moreover, this album also does appear on your amazing list

Actually... I think this album is quite praised among people. But hyped? Not at all. And if you ask me it gets the praise it deserves. Definitely some unique twists in the USBM formula here.

It's also in my sample list. Brilliant sample in Simulacrum Of Mirrors.

Definitely one of the better atmo-black albums I've heard. I was quite surprised when mz rejected it for his black metal list. I figured he'd be crawling all over this.

True, but that's pretty much the only good thing I remember from this album.

If anyone here on MS is unpredictable when it comes to what one would and would not enjoy, it's mz.

Evidence? I don't really find his preferences that unpredictable. His style is pretty clearly defined and demarcated if you look at his lists.

I think I agree with you more than Erik but I like the fact that my opinions can be surprising for people is some occasions.

Ironically enough, my complain about this being overrated caused people noticing this album more than before.

Yeah, it made me vote on it like eight years after I listened to it. At least it brought up people who share your opinion on it.

Well said. I still have to check this album out, but I gotta defend you on the word "hype" regarding this record. I think something is basically "hyped" if it has a great review from a prominent MS user and a staff pick associated with it with multiple likes from prominent users. You were entirely in the right to say that you couldn't get the hype.

Fair enough, I'll give you evidence.

His taste in metal indeed is pretty clearly defined, though some albums that you (or rather, I) would expect him to like, he doesn't like at all. Examples would be him disliking ColdWorld's debut, Cult of Fire's latest album, Dolorian's albums (especially their debut which is excellent), Nasheim's debut and perhaps most importantly: Sadness' debut, which is totally unique and excellent. Oh, and everything The Ruins of Beverast ever did aside from their latest album.

Still, it's all opinions in the end of course and some things simply don't click.

Sadness' debut and Nasheim's I can understand. What boring albums those were.

Everything else, though...

The Memento moment is on the same level as LoC and (if this counts) GYBE's F#A# in terms of samples. It's (Guy) piercing. Musically they're a more atmospheric Leviathan which would neatly serve as the center of a spectrum between Leviathan and Lurker Of Chalice.

Love their logo, not so much the art this time as opposed to others after. Until seeing a close up all this time I thought the skeleton had boobs.
