Most newbies to Tool's fanbase know Tool for calm, introspective, and meditative works like Lateralus and 10,000 Days, but little do they know of the darker Tool that emerged from the early 90's. Before writing sincerely beautiful songs like "Parabola," "Schism," and "Wings for Marie," Tool wrote songs that evoked bleak emotions of darkness, regret, sadness, anger, and emptiness. Before the progressive intricacies of Lateralus and 10,000 Days, Tool composed heavy, raw music that had an artistic, intellectual side to it. Clearly, Tool were a different band in their early days, and Undertow, their very first record, showed the world what they were capable of.

Not really their best, but the musical ideas and techniques used on this album would later be more fleshed out and realized in later albums. To note, Jones playing is just amazing in this album. His playing defies musical convention, yet at the same time not flaunting its uniqueness.

I think this album is one of Tools uniquest and heaviest albums since every of their albums has a something different this one is the first one and it really has something to say its like you are hearing the other side of music and maybe sometimes its talking about other parts of people eventually this is a really great album and many people can enjoy it in their own way

Tool sounds pretty great until now, I can't wait to hear Aenima and finally Lateralus.

This one was much better than lateralus, last two tracks especially stood out, although most of the album was still quite boring
An album rated 6 is an album I enjoyed
