When last we left Shattered Hope, I was asked to review their 2007 Promo... a two track, 20 minute release morphing of traditional doom with some death/doom vocals reminiscent of Officium Triste. Now it's 2010 and they are back with a vengeance. Ok, maybe not a vengeance necessarily, but they are back with a full-length release, Absence. Who are these guys? Discovered them only recently. Not much old Anathema for me. But certainly a hell of an album. Solid 8 right away after two spins (which doesnt happen often for me). Will give them a couple of more chances. See where it gets. Hope the successor wont be too much of a disappointment for me.
