1. Mordor - Odes
1991 - The demo that started it all
2. Unburied - Veil of Damnation
1992 - Unburied is a finnish band that takes inspiration from Thergothon's demo adding it its own identity. A forgotten gem this is.
3. Funeral - Tristesse
1993 - The closest this band was to the Funeral Doom Style. Highly Recommended!
4. Thergothon - Stream From The Heavens
1994 - Considered by many as the first Funeral Doom Metal full-length, this album still mesmerizes all those searching for sad, depressing and slooooow music. Also check: Their 1991 demo.
5. Esoteric - Epistemological Despondency
1994 - Esoteric in their first years was not the same as the band most people know nowadays. They were bitter, angry and hopeless. This album is not as psychodelic as the new ones but it's just as brilliant. Also check: EVERYTHING THEY DID.
6. Skepticism - Stormcrowfleet
1995 - Another pioneer, they added a beauty and mistery in their music that made them unique in the scene in those years. Also check: EVERYTHING THEY DID.
7. Mournful Congregation - Tears From A Grieving Heart
1999 - Yet another pioneer, highly influenced by early My Dying Bride. Mournful Congregation's style and consistence is matched by only a few. Also check: EVERYTHING THEY DID.
8. Worship - Last Tape Before Doomsday
1999 - Madness, insanity and a looot of depression. That's Worship for you. Also check: Dooom and Terranean Wake
9. Lament Christ - In Ventus Est Dolor...
1999 - With slight gothic elements. This demo is one of the most celebrated works in the peruvian scene.
10. Shape Of Despair - Shades Of...
2000 - One of the most beautiful bands in the sub-genre and also consistent as fuck. Also check: EVERYTHING THEY DID.
11. Wormphlegm - In An Excruciating Way Infested With Vermin And Violated By Executioners Who Practise Incendiarism And Desanctifying The Pious
2001 - Sounds like you've been tortured and while it's disgraceful, it's also a pleasure. Also check: Tomb Of The Ancient King.
12. Flegethon - Outside of the Consciousness
2001 - Russian band. They aren't as good as all the bands mentioned before but it's solid enough.
13. Nortt - Gudsforladt
2003 - Nortt was a pioneer in adding black metal elements in their funeral doom style. This is one of the best among the style Nortt helped to create. Also check: The Graven demo and Ligfaerd
14. Pantheïst - O Solitude
2003 - The atmosphere this band created in this album is unique in the style IMO. Also check: Pantheist 2011 and the 1000 years Demo
15. Despond - Supreme Funeral Oration
2003 - Rifftastic.
16. Asunder - A Clarion Call
2004 - By the time this wasn't original anymore, however what they lacked in that aspect they made up for in enthusiasm and energy (by funeral doom standards) Also check: Works Will Come Undone
17. Void Of Silence - Human Antithesis
2004 - It has Alan Averill doing vocals, what else you need to know? Well to be fair this is one of the highlight of the genre so there's also that. Also check: The Grave Of Civilization and The Sky Over.
18. Evoken - Antithesis Of Light
2005 - Death/Doom or Funeral Doom it doesn't matter how you call it, It's a masterpiece. Also check: EVERYTHING THEY DID
19. Tyranny - Tides Of Awakening
2005 - Lovecraftian Funeral Doom band. We need more of those. Also check: EVERYTHING THEY DID.
20. Ahab - The Call Of The Wretched Sea
2006 - The sea is a long, long way from me. Also check: The Boats Of The Glenn Carrig
21. Doom:VS - Aeternum Vale
2006 - Light Funeral Doom in the vein of Shape Of Despair. Also check: Dead Words Speak.
22. Catacombs - In The Depths Of R'lyeh
2006 - More Lovecraftian Funeral Doom? I'm in! Unfortunately this seems to be their last album.
23. Comatose Vigil - Not A Gleam Of Hope
2006 - Russian funeral doom. They deliver, no need to know more than that! Also check: Fuimus, non Sumus...
24. Longing For Dawn - A Treacherous Ascension
2007 - After their first album which was kinda middle of the road. They took 100 steps forward with this album. An excellent addition to all Funeral Doom fans.
25. Senthil - Septisemesis
2007 - Another sick and twisted band. Recommended for Wormphlegm fans.
26. Abyssmal Sorrow - Lament
2008 - Nortt inspired, it's sick, it's depressing, but not original. You should still check it though.
27. The Howling Void - Megaliths Of The Abyss
2009 - Solid as a rock
28. Arcana Coelestia - Le Mirage De L'Idéal
2009 - One beautiful son of a bitch, and one of the most beautiful clean vocals in funeral doom in general. Also check: Ubi secreta colunt
29. Urna - Iter Ad Lucem
2009 - Heavily inspired by Esoteric so if you're a fanboy, listen to this. Also check: Mors Principium Est
30. Profetus - Coronation Of The Black Sun
2009 - Skepticism worship. You'll enjoy it a lot. Also check: EVERYTHING THEY DID UNTIL NOW.
31. Shattered Hope - Absence
2010 - Solid as a rock x2
32. Lethargy Of Death - Necrology
2010 - Chilean funeral doom metal in the vein of Shape Of Despair.
33. Colosseum - Chapter 3: Parasomnia
2011 - Ahh Colosseum, they're not original, but they perform with heart and a soul. Also check: Chapter 1.
34. Loss (USA) - Despond
2011 - Solid as a rock x3. Also check: Horizonless
35. Bell Witch - Longing
2012 - Quite an unique style for the sub-genre and also one of the most popular bands. Also check: Mirror Reaper.
36. Elysian Blaze - Blood Geometry
2012 - A masterpiece of epic proportions. They took the style from Nortt and took it to the next level.
37. Station Dysthymia - Overhead, Without Any Fuss, The Stars Were Going Out
2013 - Funeral Doom in the vein of Esoteric. ESOTERIC.

2016 - Funeral Doom that is soooolid
48. Monolithe - Zeta Reticuli
2016 - Funeral Doom soliiiiiiiiiiiiiiid

I'm no funeral doom fan, but Dark Millennium's Ashore The Celestial Burden might fit here. Pretty good death doom.

PS: I believe their intro to the second album is the second best intro ever written to any song... (no. 1 goes to Neurosis )

Some death doom here? Loads of death doom here. Not that that is problem, though.

As for the one recommending Dark Millenium's Ashore The Clestial Burden that one is death metal and to be more precise true melodic death metal. Nothing to do with doom. Okay it has some slow parts but those parts aren't doom.

And what is Funeral - Tragedies doing in here? Totally not funeral doom except for the band name and I even dare say it isn't really death doom either mostly gothic on that album.

And what is Funeral - Tragedies doing in here?

I knew you would appear

I included Funeral because it is regarded as funeral doom metal by loads of people and websites (like this one lol), and besides, I kinda like it (even with the female voices). Until now you are the only one telling me that Funeral isn't funeral doom.

Like I said before I'm no expert in the genre, but I'm willing to accept suggestions to become one and make this list better.

Very good picks from 2016 to the list, not that if offered much to choose from but anyways Un is a very good 2015 (not 2016) album and the list still misses Four Phantoms (fanboy smiley)

I fixed Un's year and hey, it still has the debut from 2012. It's something :p
