This album, released exactly on Halloween of the year 2000, represents the beginning of Cradle of Filth's commercial era. A bitter disappointment for me, great for some other people. Don't get me wrong, I think that this album is anything but bad, but it's simply softer, more Gothic orientated than I would like. OK, let's descend into Midian.

Though my favourite COF album will always be 'Cruelty...', 'Midian' has the best riffs and solos-all of the guitar work is just so choppy and clean sounding, and the keyboards only help to make everything sound more epic than it already is. The reason its not a 10 is because i felt that this was the beginning of the decline of Dani Filth's vocals...

Just like to say that while I haven't sat through the entire album, I love Her Ghost In the Fog. Those really soft, slow sections with the whispers and the "Queen of snow" vocal parts are amazingly creepy. Shame I've never really enjoyed much else of theirs too much.

Has parts which could make it an absolute masterpiece of an album.
Contains some of the Cradle's best songs.
Unfortunately, the first part of the album is sometimes underwhelming.
Still a 10 for me.
Just not perfect.

A great album!

Consistently strong songs from start to finish with plenty of original ideas and a haunting atmosphere rivalling some of the black metal greats.

Really Epic.Just look at the line-up,full of talented people.
Her Ghost In The Fog is brilliant and really atmospheric.
The package is quite well-produced and the drum parts by Adrian and the key parts by Martin are fabulous.
Impressive !!!
