May I just say this is probably the best must-have album of 2012, considering its The Agonist, a band that has never disappointed us and hasn't yet with this album. The band's third studio album called Prisoners has just enhanced my ears with the awesome vocals of Alissa-White Gluz and Chris Kelis. If you are already a fan of The Agonist then you probably already heard there last two kick ass albums and just couldn't wait for this masterpiece to arrive. It's just heavy and mind blowing to listen to; I couldn't put in words the reaction I had after finishing it.

This album is amazing! Alissa is one of the best frontwomen in metal today! Check out the video for "Ideomotor" on youtube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzTAcTheKG8 and purchase the album on iTunes here http://bit.ly/Prisoners_iTunes

Have you tried the previous one? I haven't listened to this album but I really like the previous album.

I know a couple of fellas around here who really enjoyed their second. Good luck! Like I said before... I can't compare but I do like the songwriting and variety on the second album so it might be a beter deal for you!

With 'Prisoners' the band sound very ambitious, and even a little more sophisticated than on previous releases. There are less 'classical' influences (regarding the operatic vocal style and violin use on the band's previous album), but this is only to make way for more brutality and melody found within the band's twist within the Metalcore style. It is, by a margin, their best album in my opinion.

Haha POP-METAL

Not really hearing much of anything pop-related here...

I think what sets them apart from other metalcore acts is the lyrics- which are actually quite interesting. It's pretty decent for a metalcore album, but I just can't help but feel the whole album seeming kind of unmemorable once it's over. Some of the tracks kind of blend, and I find it difficult to pick out a track that I really enjoy over the rest.

Thank you for saying what's been bugging me about those kind of comments: being part of a popular subgenre of metal =/= pop metal (that's glam metal, if my understanding is correct: if that's changed recently, apologies for basically wasting half a comment).

About the record: I've only heard "You're Coming With Me", but I have to say that, considering I usually don't like extreme metal vocals, I'm surprised at how much I like these guys. They've managed to hold my attention and make me want to keep listening to them, which is more than I can say for most of the metalcore/melodic death metal bands I've tried to listen to before them.

I feel like it's their best album (I'm not interested on Vicky's releases since I don't like her vocals and I disliked their first one). I like how diverse it is and to me it's more a progressive effort than a metalcore one. You can tell each song is complex and carefully crafted.

And btw the fact that you hear clean vocals doesn't make The Agonist pop metal. If you want pop metal Amaranthe is a logical entry.

My favorite songs are Panophobia, You're Coming With Me, Anxious Darwinians, Predator and Prayer and The Mass of the Earth.
