Who are Ghost B.C. and what makes their music so appealing? To be honest, when I heard their debut album I didn't think much of these questions. All I thought was that the dark aura of Mercyful Fate around their thinly concealed heart nabbed from Blue Oyster Cult tunes like "Nosferatu" was decades too late. Listening now to their second effort Infestissumam is like having a conversation with the misunderstood Casper the friendly ghost, if he were the head of a Satanic cult. Their sound is actually readily accessible, as it turns out, and completely inoffensive, if you aren't deterred by the devil fixation.

Great album, maybe not as "black" as the debut but still as great

Black? Since when have Ghost had anything to do with black metal which I assume is what you're getting at?

Anyway, this album is unfortunately really bland with the only stand out song being "Year Zero".

I think he probably means black in the way Mercyful Fate are "black" metal, concerning the theme and lyrics.

I think this is a bit more diverse than their first album. Some really interesting songs here, especially "Ghuleh / Zombie Queen" which is very much a song of two halves. Love "Secular Haze" and "Year Zero".

Also wanted to say that the vocals are pretty cool on this album. Love the whispered stuff on "Secular Haze" and the "Ghuleh / Zombie Queen" song. And the funny accent on the chorus of "Year Zero" and the "his eyes are like a VORTEX" bridge part of the song "Depth of Satan's Eyes". Is this Papa Emeritus II a new singer or the same as the first album? I can't tell, to be honest.

Just another bizarre add to the living show this band is. Plus, people like us discuss about these things and it gets them publicity.

I was listening to a couple tracks of this today on youtube and it would seem that after what is undoubtedly one of the greatest metal (if not music) albums of all time Ghost have sort of dropped the ball.

fuck B.C. fuck that fucking shit its a tragedy that that shit has to be on the album artwork. which other than the awesome deluxe version cover is also a disappointment.

Instantly loved the drumming on the Abba cover "I'm a Marionette" and then read it was Dave Grohl. Of course it is. The guy is a great drummer and proves it again.

I streamed this album for a couple hours the other day after my friend introduced me to them. Going to see them this weekend and hopefully pick up the album from them as well.

Disregard these previous retarded comments it's not Opus Eponymous level but this is a good album, best of 2013 for me by far as it stands.

Definitely a step backwards compared to their debut album, although "Year Zero" by itself carries the album into the "ok" category.

I always thought Year Zero and Monstrance Clock were the only worthy tracks, but I've been spinning this non stop during the last few days and totally changed my opinion. 3 first tracks are still kinda filler but the rest is so much fun Pretty much the opposite experience as with Opus Eponymous.

I prefer to this the band's debut, in my opinion the musicianship and vocal delivery are more adventurous, though it's still not brilliant in general. Some songs I can't really take seriously ("Body and Blood" and "Idolatrine" are too cheesy for me to like in the long run), but there are others where I have been impressed time and again-namely "Secular Haze" and "Ghuleh/The Zombie Queen". Makes me wonder what the upcoming album released this year will be like.

Why isn't this album full of Year Zeros? Best Ghost song for sure. How do they write that so well and 9 other turkeys.

China was a neat
Maybe they wanted to write 10 turkeys and failed. Anyway it was good song but nothing on the level of snazzy coolness of Meliora. The individual artworks for the tracks are cool though. Especially these.

I enjoy the songwriting on this album slightly better than the songwriting on their debut album, but damn the sound is weak in this one. If they had kept the heavier sound of their first one, this might be much better.

Year Zero is awesome though... without Year Zero this album would merely be good, but that song is so cool that it pushes the whole thing into being pretty great.
