If "Vilify" is any indication, this album is probably not going to be any good.

Don't care for it at all. A few good parts here and there, but overall disappointing.

I feel David Draiman managed to become acquainted with everyone and their mother in the industry. He's producing Trivium, singing on MegaDave's new album and writing lyrics for it, at the same he's putting out this bland album that has several guests for half of the songs.

While "indutrial", I didn't find the electronic parts catchy as expected, and they pretty much sound like Disturbed songs with a few synths and sampling over them. And special guests. And that's it, the writing is poor, nothing really stood out for me. Was it supposed to be NIN-inspired? Because Reznor is a lot more brilliant than this. Disturbed is apparently out of fashion now so perhaps Draiman just wants to become something larger by himself...

Might need a few more spins, but so far I find this a big flop.

I'm a very big fan of Disturbed, and when I first found out about this project, I( was somewhat skeptical. But I came here with a clear mind, reviewing it as I would any other band. And I was surprised. This is actually a very good release, and I hope that people give this album a chance before bashing it, like people are want to do to albums they dont believe are up to par because they listened to one or two songs. This is a good album.

This right here. What you said is exactly how I feel.

Here's what I have to say about the album. "Out of Line" was not total shit. "Hunted" was actually decent. But the slight amount of steam that "Hunted" built up for the album was completely and utterly destroyed by that colostomy bag of a song that is "Opinion". I don't know what they were thinking there, but that song is a gigantic pile of steaming liquidious shit.

All in all, the first of half of the album is a bunch of "meh", with the middle being okay (see the aforementioned songs "Out of Line" and "Hunted"), and then it just goes downhill. Overall, not a good album.

I used to be a huge fan of Disturbed, so much so that I've probably listened to each album a few dozen times, and I know nearly every song by heart. I came into this album fully recognizing what Disturbed was all about, and I listened to every single song all the way through--some of the songs I've even listened to more than once. After all this, I can still say that this album has nothing special about it, even if I held them by the standards of my younger days when I loved Disturbed. If I hold them by the standards I keep nowadays... well, this doesn't warrant anything higher than a 5/10. It might even deserve lower, maybe I'm just being nice. But this is bad. Real bad. There's a few redeeming qualities that keep me from giving it a 4, but they draw a hair-thin line.

I was afraid this would be a Disturbed clone. But in my opinion it sounds differend than Disturbed does, even with Draimans vocals. Not the best album of the year, but for Disturbed fans it should be a fun album.

I agree, it doesn't sound as close to Disturbed as people are saying it does. I would know, because I'm very familiar with the sound. While a slight similarity is there, It's mostly David's vocals that cause so many to say that they sound close.

If I were still a Disturbed fan, this would be a terribly disappointing album. I'm not anymore, so instead of disappointing me, it turns out it's just terrible.

Well maybe it's because of that people expected a Disturbed clone, the industrial sound makes it more disapointing.

Well these bands seem not to attract listeners. As metal fans don't like industrial, and the ones who like electronic no longer like metal or anything with hatred.
Device should stop making similar music, and use their great talents in some other genre which crowd likes. Good music, just bad business.

I'm fine with both industrial and electronic music, and I've heard both merged with metal in ways that are much better than this. I don't see how any of this can be considered good at all. It's just an irritating, poorly executed attempt at combining two genres; it's not bad business if you do it right, but it most definitely is bad business to make bad music. But to each their own, I guess.

Well, it's not the best album ever, but I'd say it's still a good album, and if you are Filter or Disturbed fan you should definitely check it out. While initially it may seem just like another Disturbed album, I think that's just because Draiman has such a distinctive voice, and it's significantly different. Other than being dark metal, the instrumentation is quite different. The rock elements are a lot simpler than Disturbed, but the heavier focus on electronic makes up for that and makes it no less interesting. As usual, Draiman's voice is top notch, but I think he actually shows more versatility here than with Disturbed, such as more aggressive singing at times. Some of the songs blend together and are forgettable, but their are definitely better points. The guest stars definitely add to the album. I also highly suggest getting the deluxe version if you are going to get it, as the two bonus songs are really good and the two heaviest songs on the album. Other good tracks include "Haze", "Through it all", and "You Think You Know".
