I like the album , will rate it an 8, and I don't care about the title of it.

This is a huge step back. This album is like a mix of Thelema and Zos Kia Cultus. Behemoth is once again a Black/Death Metal band (or maybe they always were?). Songwriting has changed (less chorus oriented songs), production is 'dirtier' and Nergal is screaming more than on previous albums.
So far, so good, so... The best Behemoth album? Unfortunately not... I found riffs on this album to be less inspired than on 'Evangelion'. 'The Satanist' is less memorable and catchy. This doesn't have to be a disadvantage but in this case it is. Besides there is completely nothing new here... Clean vocals? Come on... Orchestrations? Not really... So? Yup - Nihil Novi. 'The Satanist' is in my opinion a good album but there is nothing special about it... Just another Behemoth album.

Highlights: 'Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel', 'The Satanist', 'In The Absence Ov Light', 'O Father O Satan O Sun!'

Excellent album.

It's alright. I kinda dig their Thelema 6/Zos Kia Cultus era and this is definitely closer to that. But it just doesn't do it for me like those albums. Still definitely worth listening to though.

Absolutely awesome.

Excellent, been waiting for this for a very long time.
Can't wait to see them live with this stuff, the DVD I keep watching over and over again is getting a bit worn out.

Production IS dirtier (more blackish). Just listen to 'The Apostasy'. And guess what - In my opinion this is not the best Behemoth album and I don't feel bad about it at all. Fanboy.

Need to listen to it a bit more before making a firm opinion but so far it sounds nice but not so brutal nor "powerful" as Evangelion for instance. I guess that Behemoth are like Cradle of Filth or Dimmu Borgir, ie growing mature hence not as dark as they used to be. But as said before, I need to give it a few tries before making sure about my feelings

I love albums like this one that divide the opinion of a whole group so drastically.
In my humble opinion, it may not be the best Behemoth album they have released, but I'm sure is totally better than their previous effort.

Wow, I'm impressed with this album so much ! And I'm not a very big fan of Behemoth, I mean, they're good, but I've never seen anything special in their music. Just fine death metal, that's all. But this album, is different. It really can be heard, that Nergal have put much of his heart in creation of this album. And vocals in "O Father O Satan O Sun!" are damn outstanding !!
I hope they'll keep up the great work ! For the first time, I've started to believe in this band !

If there is an album that defines Behemoth, this one is. Not only the title, but the music as well. One of my early picks for best records released in 2014, without a doubt.

Behemoth haven't been black metal in years.

This album is Behemoth's crowning achievement. They have turned this type of extreme metal into a powerful and masterful art-form.

Terrific release. Probably the most unique of their recent albums.

It is If they added an actual trumpet for the first track, why not?

Reminds me of a more competent Ex Deo. Not sure if I dig it or not, it's okay, but it feels a little hollow.

I wasn't expecting much from this album, but I was definitely impressed! Really enjoyed the album (even more after several listens).

I dig this album a lot. IMO a lot better than most of their previous stuff. I think the difference is the small amount of melody imbued into various parts of many songs. It's not much, at least not enough to suggest they changed their sound, but it really adds a lot of depth.
