People, it's time to grab your skateboards, put on your baggiest shorts and turn those red baseball caps backwards because Limp Bizkit are serving up what is oft regarded as their triumph. Is Significant Other a good album or just a victim of the "he said she said" that has haunted their career?

The album mostly plays along with competent and good musicianship that puts itself at the higher end of the nu-metal scale. It is an enjoyable listen, but one often overshadowed by Durst, who hogs the spotlight for the most part; when you are able to listen around him you can hear a group of musicians who gel well together and deserve more credit than they have received. They provide a soundtrack that is creative and, for the most part, avoids the pitfalls that befell most of nu-metal. Creating soundscapes through Borland's guitar mixed with DJ Lethal's contributions, you have an album that can shift between atmospheric and hard hitting as and when it wants to.

At last they're here lmao
their only tolerable album. Still has some cringy angst and dumb moments, but the songs are miles better than on any other record of theirs.

Thank you. Very good album, in other, as always! Limp Bizkit - the best! I love after writing my articles, for example, how to write a good narrative essay, relaxing by including one of the Limp Bizkit albums.

What? If I read "dynamically" like I always do I wouldn't even notice it's a bot.

I always preferred the debut to this, for me they just went completely overboard with the rapping on this, and just established themselves as a hip hop band with a few metal influences, rather than simply nu metal. Back in the day I much preferred Korn, Slipknot and even Linkin Park to these, at least those bands didn't go too extreme on the hip hop side of things.

It sounds like you have a masochistic streak by forcing yourself to listen to this shite.

Some of the singles LB has released have been seriously awesome, but there's not enough substance throughout an entire album to make it worthwhile. I listen to Nookie and Break Stuff constantly, but other than that...

Yeah I think you might be right I'm trying to roll back the years to when nu metal and Limp Bizkit was all the range, and trying to understand why they didn't appeal to me like most my age did back then. It's weird because I was more attracted to 70's progressive and hard rock, and 60's psychedelic rock, and never really looked beyond the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, all throughout my teens. So I guess I'm now allowing myself to have a better chance of understanding nu metal, and allowing it to really sink in a bit more, and see what I was really missing out on

Your initial instincts were spot on. You wasn't missing out on anything where Limp Bizkit are concerned.

Every song in this album is quite catchy, but the core issue is that the lyrics are so douchey. No Sex sounds like something a douche would sing after his girl turns him down for hitting her. n 2 gether now sounds like a guy trying to sing a nice song, but durst is constantly shutting the guy down by telling him shut the fuck up in order to look cool. Don't even need to explain Break Stuff or nookie. Trust sounds like the douche aggressively asking you "don't you trust me bro?" (because he's completely untrustworthy) The amount of douchiness just overflows from all the songs in bountiful amounts. This album is the audio embodiment of a douchebag.

Thing is, the songs themselves are really nice without the lyrics. I'd rate this a 10 if he was singing about bunnies and sunshine instead. I wish I was one of those people who can listen to albums without the lyrics, but durst's douchebag voice sounds out loud and clear in each song. It sounds nice at first, then the lyrics begin to really wear you down.

Still, its the classic numetal sound of the 2000s pre-linkin park.

I must be going completely insane. Back in the day I hated this nu metal thing, it was everywhere and it was annoying. Now, after listening to gazillion and million carbon copy metal bands this feels fresh and even experimental. Fred Durst is annoying and I love to hate him, but the man has a very memorable personality and his vocals are anything but monotonous and boring. I think I just had a wrong background to enjoy this shit when it was new, I didn't know anything about rhythm music or hip hop so I just couldn't get in to this thing.
