uh You know when they call bands like Slipknot Alternative I thought they meant a different route of heavy. Like a mix of heavy and soft with some melody.

nu metal is roughly the mix of metal and rap. "alternative" from what I understand was a term made to describe different stuff, but just like progressive its meaning got overtaken to describe bands that sound a particular way.

Alternative is such a vague name, it doesn't really mean anything
